Ephesians 5:22-24 establishes the husband’s marital authority. Ephesians 5:25-33 describes how the husband’s headship is exercised in the same manner in which Christ exercises his headship over the church.

In this message, we tackle this hot-button issue first by looking at the all-encompassing command which Paul gives to Christian wives, followed by the all-important comparison in which Paul grounds this command – the comparison between the husband/wife and Christ/the church. We then deal with some of the all-too-common complaints which arise whenever the topic of female submission is raised, before finally looking at the all-satisfying conclusion of living according to God’s design.

In spite of several excuses, God reminds Moses that He is and will be with him because He is the Sovereign One who called him.

Romans 3:9-20 is Paul’s closing argument in which he establishes that all men everywhere, without exception, are guilty under God’s law and helpless to justify themselves. But in the gospel, God solves our two insurmountable problems.

Is there an advantage to being an ethnic Israelite? Paul’s answer is an emphatic yes… and no.

Membership in the true Israel is not a matter of ethnicity, nor of processing the law, nor of circumcision. It is a matter of the obedience of faith and the circumcision of the heart. Only the true Israel will inherit the promise of Abraham.

Believers will be justified by faith, yet judged according to works. These two realities do not exist in irreconcilable tension, but rather express the goal of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Having explored the depths of depravity over to which God has given the pagans, godless, unbelieving world, Paul sets his sights upon the 'religious' and the 'moral' in order to prove that they are guilty of the very same practices, are under the same wrath, and are therefore in need of the very same gospel.

Homosexuality is not a modern phenomenon. Is homosexuality a sin? Is it a greater sin than adultery or fornication? Why doesn't Jesus talk about homosexuality? Are people born gay? What do I say to someone I love who is gay?

The biblical worldview says that mankind is not getting better, but worse. Though we were created a little lower than the angels, we seem intent on being little better than the beasts. But even in our depravity, God has provided humanity a witness.

God exchanged our sins on the cross, yet we are inclined to commit a sinful exchange for our worship of idols. We must know how to liberate our affections from this demise.

Romans 1:16-17 is Paul’s thesis statement, containing a summary of his gospel. By unpacking and understanding this summary, we can understand the gospel and experience its saving power.

In Romans 1:8-15, we are able to see into the heart of the apostle Paul, who was the prototypical missionary. And what we find should likewise be true of every missionary we send, and every missionary we support.

We were made to enjoy the glory of God. Therefore, the theology which affords God the greatest glory is that which brings us greatest joy. Paul knew the joy of a God-centered worldview, and he wants the Romans to know it as well.

Verses 1 and 7 of Romans chapter 1 form the standard epistolary greeting. But between these verses Paul includes one long parenthetical statement in which he defines six essential components of “the gospel of God.”
