The Giants are in their bye week roughly halfway through the 2021 season, so Football Grump takes a moment with Victor Perez of the Just A Giants Fan Podcast to look ahead at what the offseason is going to look like from the cap perspective.

The Giants head into the bye week on the heels of a victory against the Raiders. Patrick Graham's defense forced 3 turnovers, one of which was returned for 6 while the Giants offense applied a heavy run attack that finally got some traction. The Giants and Raiders come into Metlife Stadium week 9 dealing with several distractions. The Giants are sorting through COVID rapid test results throughout their short week coming off the Monday night game. Meanwhile the Raiders bye week of rest, relaxation and planning ahead was completely upended this week when star wide receiver was involved in a fatal drunk driving accident. This of course is just weeks after head coach John Gruden resigned amid a scandal. Grump and the Cranky Fan try to analyze the goofiest matchup in Just Giants history.

The Giants capitalized on the mistake prone Chiefs but were unable to hold on long enough for what would have been a huge upset win on Monday Night. Instead, Grump and The Cranky Fan need to discuss the 20-17 loss along with faulty headsets, a poor roster, somehow more injuries, a silent trade deadline, and time management.

The Giants are headed to Kansas City on Monday Night to take on the reigning AFC Champs. The Giants managed a win without a host of players while the Chiefs are licking their wounds coming off a 27-3 lashing against the Titans. Grump and the Cranky Fan discuss the upcoming match up.

Jabrill Peppers suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's victory over the Panthers and has been placed on IR. Giants have signed J.R. Reed to the practice squad. Grump and the Cranky Fan discuss this and other injury news.

The Giants sent Sam Darnold to the sidelines and Carolina packing following a 25-3 victory. The defense prevented Carolina from getting anything going and when it mattered most, Daniel Jones put the offense on his back to pull away in the Giants first home win of the season. The Carolina Panthers square up with the New York Giants on Sunday at Met Life in the War of the Wounded. Both teams look eerily similar in a lot of ways as things are beginning to spiral in NY and not everything is as bright and cheery in Carolina.
