Episode 32.2 - Movie Meltdown - This week marks the 25th anniversary of the release of Purple Rain. (Hopefully you are as shocked and confounded by how that is possible as we are.) So to celebrate this film’s silver jubilee, we take a look at the music, the scene, the clothes and the sheer power of a rock star unlike the world had ever seen before. - There’s lot of sweat and tears, and even a little blood as we recall (and discover for a couple of us) just how dark the story really is. And of course, leave it to our fearless leader to not only discuss, but to devote way too much effort into uncovering the hidden nuances of this 80’s classic. I mean, who else would bother to look for recurring motifs and grand symbolism in Purple Rain? Leave it to Bryan. So come along and revisit the allure and spectacle that is Prince.
