In this episode of On the Farm, Jake and Rick are joined by Drew Martinez, the Manager of the Dominican Summer League (DSL) Giants to discuss international player development. The episode starts by getting Drew's background, and then Drew gives an overview of the DSL and its role in international player development. The group then discusses the day-to-day lives of players in the DSL and what the initial stages of development are. From here they discuss the use of advanced data and analytics and the final stages of development in the DSL. To wrap up the discussion on the DSL, Jake and Rick ask Drew to give some managerial insight on the development of three specific players they're interested in. In the final segment of the episode, the group discusses the Arizona Fall League, where Drew worked as a coach for the Scottsdale Scorpions in 2023.
