In our journey we worry and have anxiety: "how is this going to work out for good?" God's says to us "Do not Fear."

God calls Abram to pack everything up and Go. Go to a strange land. Go from all that is familiar. To be sent, to move outward here is the counter-motion to what we had at Babel. God scattered as a preventative measure, God’s covenant with Abraham is the amelioration--a plan for blessing all nations through one nation. We will take a deeper look at moving past what is safe, what we know, what is comfortable, in order to “Go” and be sent where God is leading. Where is God leading you to “Go?”

The story line has been a cycling of two theological realities. Humanity's rebellion and insistence on grabbing for life on its own followed by growing consequences and then God's amazing grace to bring people back into relationship with Him and flourishing. Babel is another example of people grabbing life by hunkering down rather than scattering. God responds by mixing languages and scattering people. This sets the stage for the call of Abram and the rise of a people called to be a blessing to all nations.

The flood waters subside. God blesses Noah to be fruitful and multiply and then establishes a covenant with Noah. God makes a way for new life to spring up. Once again his desire is to connect with humans to establish good relationship with them, How are we to look at this story as insight into our own salvation story? Of insight into sin, judgment, forgiveness and New Life in Christ.

What can we glean from a family line? Reading into the genealogy in Genesis 4:17-5. What has God been naming you?

And God is saying, “sin is at your door, Cain. This is the crucial moment. I’m here and I want to deal with you. Before you go and do something crazy, and act upon that anger, act upon what’s festering inside you—come on, have a reality check. You can ask me, ‘what’s going on?’ Talk to me. If you open that door, man, something evil is outside that door and it’s going to overwhelm you. Don’t open the door.” And all of us understand that in our lives. Any of us who have been overwhelmed by sin, like a weakness that we have, we know what that door is.
