Moby is the subject of a new documentary which is currently out called "Moby Doc". Moby discusses the film which was dirtied by his frequent collaborator Rob Gordon Bralver. Also, returning to Filmwax after a long hiatus, filmmaker Heidi Ewing discusses her Sundance hit and her first narrative film, "I Carry You With Me" also in theaters & streaming.

Two documentary filmmakers visit Filmwax in this episode. Nancy Buirski makes her 3rd visit with her doc "A Crime on the Bayou" and first-time visitor Lisa Immordino Vreeland makes her first visit with the doc "Truman & Tennessee: An Intimate Conversation". Iconic musician Sergio Mendes is the subject of a new documentary currently on PBS called "Sergio Mendes & Friends: A Celebration". Also, author & film critic Michael Koresky discusses his new book "Films of Endearment: A Mother, a Son and the '80s Films That Defined Us" currently available for purchase.

The author Noah Isenberg ("We'll Always Have Casablanca") returns with his latest book, "Billy Wilder on Assignment" (Princeton University Press). Before Billy Wilder became the screenwriter and director of iconic films like Sunset Boulevard and Some Like It Hot, he worked as a freelance reporter, first in Vienna and then in Weimar Berlin.

The animated short film #SaveRalph​​ is part of a global campaign to ban animal testing for cosmetics. The director of this animated short, Spencer Susser and the film's animator, Andy Gent, are the guests in this first segment. Then filmmaker Robert Machoian and actor Clayne Crawford discuss their dramatic film "The Killing of Two Lovers" which is currently out.

The subjects of the documentary "Duty Free", mother Rebecca Danigelis & her son Sian-Pierre Regis join me in the first segment. The film is in select theaters & available to stream. Then Anja Marquardt ("She's Lost Control") returns to Filmwax to discuss the 3rd season of "The Girlfriend Experience" for STARZ which she directed.

This episode includes a conversation with Filmwax friend, the director Craig Zobel ("The Hunt") who has directed the entire 7 episodes of HBO's original series "Mare of Easttown". Three of the episodes of this compelling murder mystery have already aired. Also, the team behind a new dramatic indie film "Beast Beast" including its director Danny Madden.

Author Glenn Frankel ("The Searchers", "High Noon") returns to the podcast to discuss his latest book "Shooting Midnight Cowboy: Art, Sex, Loneliness, Liberation, and the Making of a Dark Classic" (Farrar, Straus and Grious, 2021) which is the ultimate exploration of John Schlesinger's 1969 classic film. I am joined by Filmwax Radio regular co-host, the actor and author Illeana Douglas.

Singer songwriter Matthew Sweet ("Girlfriend", "100% Fun") visits the podcast for the first time to discuss his brand new album "Catspaw" which he recorded almost entirely on his own in the summer of 2019 in his Nebraska home with only the help of his drummer Ric Menck. We discuss Matthew's career and being creative at home during a global pandemic.
