Dread Media - Episode 172
13/12/2010 Duración: 01h18minThink we're currently in the Golden Age of the superhero film? Wrong. This week Desmond and Darryll take a look at the lineage of the French superhero / antihero film. First up: one of the greatest comic films ever made: Mario Bava's 1968 psychedelic Danger: Diabolik. Then Desmond does a What Music They Make segment looking at Ennio Morricone's score for that film before Darryll returns to go over the first two films covering the silent exploits of the French pulp anarchist, Fantomas: 1913's Fantomas in the Shadow of the Guillotine, and Juve vs. Fantomas. It's a show loaded with debonair antiheroes and their lovely ladies. Enjoy! Diabolikal tunes abound: "Deep Down" by Mondo Cane, "Body Movin'" by The Beastie Boys, "Underwater Wah Wah" and other selected music from Ennio Morricone, "Experiment in Terror" by Fantomas, and "Something Diabolical" by The Bloodhound Gang. Dread Media - Episode 170
29/11/2010 Duración: 01h29minIn this week's misogynistic film round-up, Desmond and Darryll have a very uncomfortable conversation about sex, Nazis, and Smokey and the Bandit while reviewing Salon Kitty. Then Desmond is a little weirded out by how much he enjoyed Lars von Trier's controversial Antichrist. And he makes a lot of enemies in his review of the film Adrien Brody doesn't want you to see: Giallo. Then Darryll can't get enough and joins us for a little bit of feedback and a peanut butter 'nana sammich. Songs bordering on misogyny: "She" by KISS, "Nazi Girlfriend" by Iggy Pop, "Master's Hands" by Charlotte Gainsbourg, "She Is Beautiful" by Children of Bodom, and "Only Women Bleed" by Alice Cooper. Dread Media - Episode 167
08/11/2010 Duración: 01h18minWe need an old priest and a young priest! And a sadly bloated former child actor! This week, in an episode dedicated to two very different films based on demonic possession, Desmond and Darryll cover The Exorcist and Night of the Demons. One's the most influential horror film of all time, and the other's a remake of a mediocre film from the 1980s. Strap in, Internet, because I think we might have broken Darryll. Demonic ditties include: an excerpt from "Tubular Bells" by Mike Oldfield, "The Exorcist" by The Hellacopters, "Night of the Demons" by 45 Grave, and "Possessions" by Strapping Young Lad. Send your feedback to Hell, because I hear that's where your mother... feedback@dreadmedia.net, or 206.203.1213. Join the Facebook group!
