  • Military Monday with John D. Gresham and Author/Game Designer Larry Bond

    21/12/2015 Duración: 01h51min

At the beginning of 2015, few people could have imagined the political and military events that would occur in the following 12 months, much less how much they would revolve and depend upon Seapower around the globe. From the South China Sea and the Caspian, to the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean, Seapower has made a massive comeback in terms of importance and for world leaders trying to exercise their options. What made 2015 so special however, as been the diversity of nations deciding to employ their navies in positive, decisive actions across the globe. Russia, China, England, France, Japan and dozens of other nations have deployed Seapower for everything from Freedom of Navigation preservation, to counterterrorism in the Middle East. And while the United States Navy and Marine Corps were there also, tight rules of engagement and highly limited foreign policies restricted their use. Clearly, for the first time since the end of the Cold War, worldwide Seapower employment has become a genuine and favored op

What's your story?  Lisa Tarves and Daria Anne co-founded Writestream Publishing LLC in June of 2015 with the understanding that everyone has a valuable story to share with the world. What has the company accomplished since its launch six months ago?  Tune in on December 15 when Tuesday host Daria Anne welcomes her dear friend and biz partner Lisa Tarves to the show. • Military Monday Replay with John D. Gresham and USNI Press Author Jan K. Herman

    14/12/2015 Duración: 01h25min

Due to a last-minute scheduling change by today's planned guest, we will be replaying one of my favorite past shows with vauthor Jan K. Herman. Spring 1975 was a painful and difficult time for the peoples of Southeast Asia and the United States. Most Americans prefer not to remember our forced evacuation from Vietnam, and the horrible imagery of the fall of Saigon. What followed was the era of darkness in the region, with mass genocide, political oppression and imprisonment, as the short term outcomes for those in the former French colonies of Indochina. However, despite these horrible realities, some incredible stories of heroism, initiative, and humanity emerged from these difficult days, and one of them centered on the men of the destroyer escort USS Kirk (DE 1087)  The Kirk was part of Task Force 77 in the South China Sea, tasked with conducting the evacuation of US citizens and key South Vietnamese personnel and their families. While only a little over 400 feet in length, the Kirk would be responsible

  • Military Monday with John D. Gresham and Zenith Press Author John Fredrickson

    07/12/2015 Duración: 01h50min

As America remembers the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, it is worth remembering that the eventual victory of the Allies over the Axis nations in World War II was as much a victory of industrial production as battles fought. In his 1942 State of the Union address to Congress, Pres. Franklin Roosevelt set a goal of building 60,000 combat aircraft in 1942. In one of the greatest industrial miracles in history, America built far more. One of the key contractors in that effort was the North American Aviation (NAA) company of Inglewood, CA, which is just a few years earlier had been a small airplane design/manufacturing concern. Led by a tough, no-nonsense maverick engineer and industrialist, James "Dutch" Kindelberger, NAA would build some of the most important warplanes in history to help win World War II. Planes like the AT-6/SNJ advanced trainer, B-24 Liberator and B-25 Mitchell bombers, and the legendary P-51 Mustang fighter. But what did the factories look like, and who were the people who wo
