Happy New Year Military Monday listeners! As we begin our fourth year of broadcasting, it seems like good time to look back over our growing body of work, and pick out some of the best of it to share with listeners. So to start 2016, join us on Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network(@Writestream)) with military historian, author and journalist John D. Gresham (@greshamj01) at 1 p.m. Eastern for a  special broadcast celebrating the shows and guests that we consider to have been our best. Spring 1975 was a painful and difficult time for the peoples of Southeast Asia and the United States. Most Americans prefer not to remember our forced evacuation from Vietnam, and the horrible imagery of the fall of Saigon. What followed was the era of darkness in the region, with mass genocide, political oppression and imprisonment, as the short term outcomes for those in the former French colonies of Indochina. However, despite these horrible realities, some incredible stories of heroism, initiative, and humanity emerged from these difficult days, and one of them centered on the men of the destroyer escort USS Kirk (DE 1087)  The Kirk was part of Task Force 77 in the South China Sea, tasked with conducting the evacuation of US citizens and key South Vietnamese personnel and their families. It's hard to believe the Conservative Libertarian Fiction Alliance is already two years old! Founded by liberty-loving authors and readers Kia Heavey and Marina Fontaine in 2013, the group has grown significantly not only in membership (close to 1,000 at the time of this posting) but in influence. Among other things, CLFA has started offering awards for best books (as voted by members). It also serves as an excellent resource for information on all things related to writing, independent publishing, and of course, the culture wars.  On December 8, Kia and Marina will join Daria Anne to discuss CLFA successes and plans for the future. As America remembers the 74th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, it is worth remembering that the eventual victory of the Allies over the Axis nations in World War II was as much a victory of industrial production as battles fought. In his 1942 State of the Union address to Congress, Pres. Franklin Roosevelt set a goal of building 60,000 combat aircraft in 1942.
