The Ugly Side of Christmas - Unraveling Pastor Josh Mayo

It’s hard to be still. We like activity. We like rush. Busyness makes us feel better. It’s easy for any of us to use activity to prove our worth to others and even to yourself. But in the stillness…You cannot do…You can only be. This week, as we to move into holiday season, Pastor Josh challenges us to find those still moments with God. With so much to do and so much that needs to be accomplished…we want to make sure we don’t miss the divine moments…that we don’t miss God.

Many of us truly do not understand what intimacy with God is supposed to look like. Is the Word of God living and active in your life? This week, guest speaker, Brian Porzio took us on a journey into God’s word and what it looks like to walk with Him.

Often times…we think the goodness of God is based off the best parts of us. We would never say it that way… but in our heart…we often acts as if this is truth. The internal logic is: Because we are this…God can do this…because we gave this…God does this. This week, Pastor Josh speaks on how God loves you…in spite of you…not because of you!

Life can be hard. It’s full of challenges and setbacks. But there is something indestructible about God’s church. If you want to have an indestructible life...you need to know how God builds His indestructible church! This week, Pastor Josh has us focus our lives around the three cornerstone principles that God uses to build his church…three things to build our lives on the cornerstone of Christ… so the gates of hell won't prevail against us!

Many follow Jesus because a new destination looks more appealing than their current situation. If we are not careful, Christianity can be more about convenience for ourselves than a relationship with Christ. But Jesus wants more for you. God may use your circumstance to get you into the boat with him...but that’s just the beginning of your journey. So how does Jesus often change us along the way? Storms. This week Pastor Josh talks about storms and challenges us to buckle in rather than back out.

Oftentimes we find ourselves laughing, privately scoffing and mocking what God wants to do in our lives. This week's message, Pastor Josh talks about the importance of having faith and learning to stop laughing at God’s future miracle. God wants to do stuff in and through us and we must believe in the miracles He has in store for our lives.

Prodigal God Part 3

In the story of The Prodigal Son, we see the father throw the biggest party the family has probably ever seen…and the older brother refuses to join. You see...The party was a demonstration of the father’s love. He wanted both his sons in attendance. The elder son had a choice…would he join the celebration and love what the father loved…or would he remain outside…refusing to go in. Often… we think we are standing on principle…but the father reveals to us…that we were really just standing on pride. This week, Pastor Josh continues our Prodigal God series by sharing insights into the Elder Brother.

When we read the story of Jesus we see something really interesting. We see that people like Jesus…they just don’t like the church. They like the person…but they seem to hate organized religion. Why is that? This week, as we kick off our series The Prodigal God, Pastor Josh shared from the passage in scripture that tells the story of The Prodigal Son. However, there are actually two brothers in this story. So in truth…it shouldn’t be called The Prodigal Son…but The Parable of the Two Lost Sons. We miss the fact that Jesus was talking to two groups of people that day...

Have you ever been in that spot of yielding...and you're like...come on already! I was here first! Every now and then, God puts up a yield sign in our life to say, "Hold up…wait a moment. Yield to what I have for you." This week, Pastor Josh shares on the importance and grace of yielding our lives to God so that He can work in and through us.
