The Voice to Parliament has been touted as a progressive step forward for Indigenous rights in Australia, however the proposal does not address and is a distraction from the fundamental and significant issue of sovereignty. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have never ceded sovereignty to the Australian government.

On the 2nd July, members of the disabled community gathered to mourn Josh, a 24 year old man living with Sotos syndrome who died after an altercation with transit guards at Perth Underground station. The vigil was held in Murray St Mall at the entrance to the Underground. Indymedia's Joni Boyd went down to catch some of what the community had to say about Josh’s death.
