Watching Dead - Walking Dead Podcast

Jim and A.Ron want to hold someone “Always Accountable” for what is, on the surface, a serviceable enough episode of The Walking Dead, but becomes on reflection, a tedious seeming waste of time for us the viewers. Support Bald Move:  Amazon  |  Club Bald Move Daryl loses his bike and his ‘bow, Abraham gets some new threads and a new plan for life, and Sasha gets a walrus mustached possibly recovering death jockey for a boyfriend.  Along the way, there’s forest fires, melted zombies, Cherokee roses, improbably diabetics, and a truck named Patty.  All this and plenty of feedback, in a fairly dispirited podcast.  We’ll hope for better this weekend, and either way, we’ll see you then. Jim and A.Ron are divided about their opinions on episode 605 of The Walking Dead, “Now”. One host thinks it was a basically good episode with a few peculiar TWD tics dragging the overall goodness down, while the other disliked the majority of the episode despite it having a few bright parts.  Which host had which opinion may surprise you… Support Bald Move:  Amazon  |  Club Bald Move Along the way, we realize that Barley = Intellect, Maggie is in the family way, Aaron thinks way to highly of his given name, Deanna treats zombies like noisy apartment neighbors, Ron is probably up to something, and that The Walking Dead staff just loves to write “this is the world we live in” speeches almost as much as we hate hearing them.  All this and a fully stocked pantry’s worth of emails that we plunder with shameless abandon, and even a bit of a spoiler section towards the end where we discuss some casting news and develop some themes and plotlines from the comics. Episode 604 of The Walking Dead, “Here’s Not Here”, seems like at least an above average episode, featuring superior acting from the two leads as well as a reasonably interesting and satisfying backstory to Morgan’s otherwise inexplicable “all life is precious” philosophy. So, if you’re not in the mood for a hate-cast on the fiasco of an episode that is The Walking Dead #603, “Thank You”, it might be wise to bail now, and we’ll see you next week.  If you’re angry and confused and looking to tear into the guts of “Thank You” like a herd of hungry zombies — well friend, you’ve come to the right place… Support Bald Move:  Amazon  |  Club Bald Move Jim and A.Ron rail against the frankly inexcusable and inexplicable jerking around The Walking Dead production team has been inflicting upon it’s audience for the last 48 hours.  To say nothing of the strangely detached sense of geography and space, the tedious battle between the pragmatic veterans of Rick’s team and the naive idiots of Alexandria, the lazily crafted action sequences, the massive location oversights, the casual throwing away of of potentially interesting character arcs and developments just for shock value that they’ve been steadily undermining since the moment the episode finished airing. The (Real) Walking Dead makes a confident return with episode 601, “First Time Again”. We get sane Morgan, just-the-right-amount-of-crazy Rick, and thousands upon thousands of walkers. An experiment with B&W photography that could have been yet another failed attempt at artistry beyond TWD’s reach turned into a vital grounding technique to keep us in sync with an ever shifting time line, and those shifts did a heroes work plastering over some of the plot holes and inconsistencies of the main plot, while also showing important character shifts in interesting ways. And hey, zombies. Lots and lots of visually interesting, disgusting, soft headed zombies.
