  • "Simply good management": The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, December 2021

    22/12/2021 Duración: 01h31s

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. All of a sudden, Forest are just outside the play-off places with half the season played, and I'm not sure many Reds fans would have predicted that back in September. Rich Ferraro is joined by Steven Toplis, Tom Newton and Baz to discuss Steve Cooper's methods and mentality, and discuss whether this is a flash in the pan, or the start of a legacy. There are two elephants in the room, the transfer window and Covid-19, and we ponder over their possible effects. We also hear your opinions, Jeremy Davies pops up with his monthly sketch, we play Guess That Red, and have another great giveaway courtesy of our friends at theterracestore.com - listen to the podcast and email forestramble@gmail.com with your answer by 8pm on Monday 27th December for a chance to win. Wishing our listeners, and all Forest fans, a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year. Subscribe via your podcast provider, and please leave a review, as

  • Nottingham Forest 2-1 Hull City: The 1865 Match Report

    18/12/2021 Duración: 22min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Another victory for Forest, but a hard-fought one where the Reds had to come from behind and overcome losing two players to injury. It was a murky day by the Trent, and with the spectre of Covid causing disruption to football and our Christmas plans, this was a day when things could have gone awry, especially after Kean Lewis-Potter opened the scoring just before the break. However, second half goals from Lewis Grabban (pen) and Brennan Johnson saw the home team claim victory and the fans leave with smiles on their faces. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to talk about the misfortunes of Jordi Osei-Tutu and Alex Mighten, who both made good contributions before succumbing to injury; a controversial penalty; and the brilliance of Johnson's finish when bagging the winning goal. We will be back before Christmas with our monthly show - keep an eye on your feeds and join in our Twitter polls if you can! Subscribe to 1865 via your p

  • Swansea City 1-4 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    12/12/2021 Duración: 23min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Forest go from strength to strength under Steve Cooper with a brilliant 4-1 win at Swansea City; the Reds putting in a clinical performance against Cooper's former employers and providing the travelling Reds supporters with a day to remember.  The first half was a goalless affair, with Swansea just edging it on chances created. However, the second half saw five goals, four of them for the visitors! Philip Zinckernagel got things going with a ferocious strike from just inside the area on 48 minutes before Lewis Grabban doubled Forest's lead two minutes later after a fine move orchestrated by Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson down the right. Joel Piroe made it 2-1 with a shot that deflected in off Ryan Yates but Johnson restored the two-goal cushion soon after as he pounced on a mistake by Swans goalkeeper Ben Hamer. Swansea pushed in the closing stages but Cooper's men wrapped things up in injury time as Cafu fired home Lyle

  • Nottingham Forest 2-0 Peterborough United: The 1865 Match Report

    05/12/2021 Duración: 27min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. After three successive Championship draws, Forest got back to winning ways against struggling Peterborough, on a wet and blustery City Ground afternoon. The first half offered very little in terms of quality, although Philip Zinckernagel almost put the Reds ahead within the first minute as his drive from range was tipped away by Posh 'keeper David Cornell, and later Lewis Grabban later fired into the side netting from an angle. The second half was a big improvement; Forest came out pressing Peterborough higher up the pitch, playing with a greater pace and intensity. They were rewarded on 72 minutes as Grabban's miscued finish fell to James Garner in the box to prod home, before Ryan Yates wrapped things up 12 minutes later (even if he didn't know much about it!) as he turned Garner's corner into the net. The performance of the referee (suprise, surprise) frustrated both Forest and Peterborough, particularly the Reds when h

  • West Bromwich Albion 0-0 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    27/11/2021 Duración: 24min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Another match, another draw for the Reds. This game was probably not that high on quality but there were some talking points. West Brom huffed and puffed and occasionally got in behind the Forest backline, but they offered little upfront and Brice Samba only had one notable save to make. Forest were similarly blunt in the final third, with Sam Johnstone palming over Brennan Johnson's deflected effort. However, there is still much to be pleased about - Forest were missing Max Lowe and Jack Colback, but were still competitive throughout, and after Jayson Molumby's red card the away side looked the most likely, with attacking substitutions, efforts blocked, and crosses just missed. There was still a get out of jail moment when Jordan Hugill showed a lack of composure in front of goal, but it says a lot that Steve Cooper's Reds were disappointed with an away draw at an ex-Premier League side. • Nottingham Forest 0-0 Luton Town: The 1865 Match Report

    24/11/2021 Duración: 24min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. A goalless draw at the City Ground only tells half the story, on a night short on quality but with plenty of incident. Unfortunately, most eyes were on referee Jeremy Simpson, who was trying to make a name for himself by awarding a penalty to Luton, sending off Jack Colback, and then denying the Reds what looked like a clear penalty at the other end. It says a lot when both managers are unhappy with the officials. Both teams could have won it - Brice Samba saved the pen and then made a great save later on, but Lyle Taylor could have given Forest the lead earlier on. As well as Samba, there were good performances by Scott McKenna and debutant Braian Ojeda. We speak to Luton fan Ryan McCole to discuss the major talking points. Finally for now, don't forget our giveaway, courtesy of our friends at theterracestore.com - review our podcast and email a screengrab to forestramble@gmail.com by 8pm on Friday 26th November for a cha

  • Reading 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    21/11/2021 Duración: 25min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. A draw away at Reading probably feels more like two points dropped, rather than a point gained, especially as the Royals were rocked by a six-point deduction, a host of injuries, and Philip Zinckernagel's excellent early goal. However, the home team went on to be the stronger team for most of the first half, although it took them until 62 minutes to get back into the match after the introduction of sub Andy Carroll. Forest will feel like they had the better chances in the second half, with Lewis Grabban having two efforts of note. Rich Ferraro and the Maradona Of The Midlands discuss the above, as well as Max Lowe and the Colback/Yates axis, and much more. • The Steve Cooper Revolution: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, November 2021

    14/11/2021 Duración: 57min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Positive football, positive results and a rapid rise up the table; Steve Cooper has continued to make quite the impression since his appointment as Forest head coach. Steven Toplis is joined by Baz, The Maradona of the Midlands and Tom Newton and Steven Toplis to discuss the impact Cooper has made in his first few weeks at The City Ground and reflect on how watching Forest has suddenly become enjoyable once again. We also discuss the revival of Jack Colback in a red shirt, Lewis Grabban's importance to the side as well as ponder the future of the influential on-loan wingbacks Max Lowe and Djed Spence. Not to mention Jeremy Davies offering his monthly musings, a game of Guess That Red, and another great giveaway courtesy of our friends at theterracestore.com - listen to the podcast and email forestramble@gmail.com with your reviews by 8pm on Friday 26th November for a chance to win. • Nottingham Forest 3-0 Preston North End: The 1865 Match Report

    07/11/2021 Duración: 21min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. In a break with recent tradition, there were no late goals or comebacks in this one, as Forest recorded a comfortable (in the end) victory over Preston North End. Forest reverted to a 4-2-3-1 formation in an attempt to get the first goal and provide more attacking threat, and although Preston made a confident start, the Reds struck first through Lewis Grabban's penalty. MOTM Jack Colback added a great second goal before half-time. It's worth noting that the Reds didn't have it all their own way - at the start of each half, the visitors exerted pressure, and Grabban's second goal after a jinking, mazy run from Brennan Johnson was needed to put the game to bed. After three matches in a row with (ahem) curious refereeing decisions, Forest probably got the benefit of the doubt for much of this game. Rich Ferraro and Baz report on a welcome three points. • Nottingham Forest 1-1 Sheffield United: The 1865 Match Report

    03/11/2021 Duración: 25min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Late goal? Check. Belief and resilience? Check. The Amazing Djed Spence? Check. "Interesting" refereeing? Check check check it out - the 1865 Match Report is here! Rich Ferraro and Steven Toplis discuss a match that was a great advert for the Championship; despite only one save all match, there was plenty of action, and both teams will feel like they could have taken all three points. After substitute Billy Sharp created the Blades' opener for the excellent Morgan Gibbs-White, our own veteran forward Lewis Grabban came off the bench to score a real striker's goal.  The big talking points for the Reds were Jack Colback at left back; the impact of the subs (again); the performance of human Duracell bunny Djed Spence (again); and of course that penalty incident (again) which saw an incredulous Brennan Johnson booked for diving. Most of all, it was telling that, even after conceding on 78 minutes, the fans and team knew that t

  • Queens Park Rangers 1-1 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    30/10/2021 Duración: 14min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. A late late deflected goal from Jack Colback provided the bit of luck that Forest needed to get a point away at QPR. The Reds had played well but struggled with the final ball, and as a result Seny Diang did not have much to do in the Rangers net. On the other hand, QPR scored on the stroke of half time, and could have had more in the second half as the Reds chased the game. Baz is joined by Tom Newton for this review of the game, reflecting on the belief and never-say-die attitude that characterises this Forest team and Head Coach. Unfortunately, there are also more than a few words for this referee, and the standard of officiating in general - even Steve Cooper said that he couldn't talk about it as he didn't want to get into trouble (however, our Tom has no such qualms). • Nottingham Forest 0-4 Fulham: The 1865 Match Report

    25/10/2021 Duración: 22min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Back down to earth with a bump, the Reds paid the price for naivety and silly mistakes, and were punished by a rampant Fulham team, with Aleksandr Mitrovic showing his class with two goals, and Neeskens Kebano scoring an excellent goal on the break.  Forest will need to learn from this match, dust themselves down and get back on the horse. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss midfield pivots, turning points, and the referee, who notably drew the ire of Reds gaffer Steve Cooper. • Bristol City 1-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report (extended edition)

    20/10/2021 Duración: 32min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. An extended match report after an extraordinary end to the match, as Lyle Taylor scored twice in stoppage time to take all three points. Alex Scott (not that one) gave Bristol City a first half lead, but the Reds maintained their belief and attacking impetus. It was never really in doubt, was it? Rich Ferraro is joined by The Athletic's Nick Miller for a totally unbiased summary of the game (he got some funny looks for swearing at the ref in the press box) - up for discussion are: hitting the post, and Brice Samba's saves; the penalties that weren't, and the one that was; Lyle Taylor's languid lollop up to the spot; and the limbs following the winning goal. • Nottingham Forest 2-1 Blackpool: The 1865 Match Report

    17/10/2021 Duración: 19min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. At long last, Forest managed to get that elusive home win in the league, at the expense of a Blackpool side who have found their feet in the Championship. Goals from Brennan Johnson and Lewis Grabban earned the victory, despite the Reds being pegged back by a Jerry Yates equaliser following a mix-up between Djed Spence and Brice Samba. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz to discuss the feelgood factor at this match - "it was a proper fight", as well as the contributions of Philip Zinckernagel, Jack Colback and Ryan "Pirlo" Yates, as Steve Cooper made tactical tweaks and the right substitutions to see Forest over the line (and once again, knew all the right things to say after the match). • Belief and confidence: The 1865 Nottingham Forest Podcast, October 2021

    11/10/2021 Duración: 01h02min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. It feels like a lot has happened in the last month: Chris Hughton was sacked, Forest got their first win of the season under Steven Reid, and Steve Cooper has joined with a charm offensive. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz, Tom Newton and Steven Toplis to discuss tactics and formations, the impact on the players, and Cooper's willingness to engage with the fanbase. Speaking of fans, we also discuss what supporters really want from following their team, with reference to the NFFC Supporters' Trust and the current situation at Newcastle United. • Birmingham City 0-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    02/10/2021 Duración: 15min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Another three goals on the road and another three points; Forest made it three away wins on the spin as they ran out 3-0 winners over Birmingham City at St. Andrews. In an entertaining game played on a wet and rainy afternoon, it was Forest who took the lead on 11 minutes as Lewis Grabban thumped home a brilliant 20-yard strike. The hosts threatened to fight back as they caused some scares inthe Reds defence with set pieces, but it was a set piece of their own that saw Forest double their lead, as Ryan Yates headed home a corner on the half hour mark. In the second half a swift, flowing counter attack saw Forest extend their lead further after nice work from Grabban and Philip Zinckernagel released Djed Spence down the right, where the wing-back thumped a finish into the roof of the next for 3-0. Birmingham responded with chances of their own but Brice Samba held firm in the Forest goal, producing a stunning late save fro

  • Barnsley 1-3 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    30/09/2021 Duración: 14min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Steve Cooper took his Forest side to South Yorkshire to face Barnsley - a team who've inflicted damage upon the Reds in recent years - and the new head coach picked up his first win since taking charge with an enjoyable 3-1 success. Forest shaded the first half but it was Barnsley who led on 20 minutes, as Cauley Woodrow converted the penalty he'd won after being hauled down in the box by Tobias Figuereido. Forest fought back in the second half, though, with the introduction of Lewis Grabban for Figuereido and a switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation providing the catalyst for goals. Grabban released Brennan Johnson down the right-hand side and he squared the ball across goal to provide Philip Zinckernagel with a simple tap-in, before Johnson made it 2-1 with a neat finish soon after. Grabban later got his goal after Alex Mighten's trickery saw him get away down the left before sliding the ball across for Grabban to convert. Fores

  • Nottingham Forest 1-1 Millwall: The 1865 Match Report

    26/09/2021 Duración: 13min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Following the first win of the season last weekend, Steve Cooper took charge of Nottingham Forest for the first time as Millwall visited The City Ground. The new head coach started with a point, earned thanks to a second-half fightback after Matt Smith (again!) found the back of the net for the visitors in the first half. Max Lowe equalised for Forest on 52 minutes, picking up the ball from Scott McKenna before firing a cross into the box and also into the back of the net, as it soared over Bartosz Bialkowski in the Millwall goal. The on-loan left-back might not have meant to score, but his goal secured a decent point in the circumstances. Cooper kept faith with the 3-4-2-1 system that worked well in the win at Huddersfield and named an unchanged team. While the Reds might not have hit the heights they did a week ago in South Yorkshire, they did enough to suggest they'll be a more entertaining side to watch this season. S

  • Steve Cooper arrives: 1865 Podcast Special

    22/09/2021 Duración: 43min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Another season and another new manager joins Nottingham Forest - or should we say head coach? After the departure of Chris Hughton last week, former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper has been appointed as head coach at The City Ground. The Welshman, who led the Swans to back-to-back playoff finishes in the Championship, takes charge of the Reds after their first win of the season at the eighth attempt; the 2-0 victory at Huddersfield Town on Saturday under the caretaker stewardship of Steven Reid. Rich Ferraro is joined by Baz, Steven Toplis and the Maradona of the Midlands to examine the latest change in the Forest dugout. As well as touching on where it went wrong for Hughton, the panel look at Cooper's pedigree, his style of play and they ask if Forest have finally implemented some form of "strategy" through Cooper's appointment. Tom Morgan from Total Swans TV also joins the team to provide his view on the appointment of Co

  • Huddersfield Town 0-2 Nottingham Forest: The 1865 Match Report

    19/09/2021 Duración: 21min

1865: The Nottingham Forest Podcast is proud to partner with FanHub and The Terrace. Lo and behold, a win! Forest collected three points for the first time in nearly six months, as the managerless Reds scored two goals and kept a clean sheet away at Huddersfield Town. It was noticeable that Forest were trying to get higher up the pitch, and playing three centre backs seemed to give a better balance to the team. In this dogcast, Rich Ferraro and Baz compare and contrast the tactics and performance to what we saw under Chris Hughton; we also hear from Brady from Huddersfield podcast And He Takes That Chance with an opposition fan's view of the high-vis Reds.
