In Defense Of Bad Movies

The first unfortunate event was this movie getting greenlit, and the most recently was our having to watch it.  Hopefully this will put an end to Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.  Actually, it's a pretty entertaining movie, though Bobby disagrees, as he takes the movie--and Jim Carrey--to task.

In this minisode, not much happens.  Sam explains the group's long absence and reports the next movie getting discussed.

For our Christmas movie, Sam defends Mystery, Alaska.  Okay, it's not very Christmasy.  I mean, there is one scene with carols and a tree, I think, but that's about it.  There's a hell of a lot of snow, though!

Sam reveals the big holiday movie the gang with discuss this season, and Themes Like Old Times talks about Gilmore Girls.

Bobby continues his legacy of enjoying bad sci-fi as he defends Tron Legacy.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Laura has bad taste in movies.  Well, that's going a bit far, but she does defend Pride and Prejudice and Zombies for some baffling reason.  Do tune in and give it a listen.  And try to ignore the knocks and things--we were recording in a different studio from usual (AKA Laura's house instead of mine).

Along with revealing the next movie the IDOBM gang will discuss (and its supercool guest defender), the guys at Themes Like Old Times talk about the classic comedy, I Love Lucy.

In a departure from our usual format, we compare two movies--2006’s The Illusionist and The Prestige--that are both well reviewed.  They are also similar in other ways, what with the Victorian-era magic.  Of course, we can’t discuss too many good movies.  This is a bad movie podcast, which is to say, a podcast where we discuss bad movies.  If people hear that we are a “bad movie podcast” and see that many of our movies are well regarded, they will assume that we are a bad . . . movie podcast.  And we don’t want that.

In a later than usual minisode, Sam reveals what the follow-up to the magical Bewitched episode will be.  Hint, it's twice as magical!

Loren tries to cast a spell on the rest of the IDoBM gang to convince them that Bewitched is a magical movie.  Meanwhile, Laura tries to say "Voldemort," with mixed results.

Only You can prevent bad movies.  Well, that's not really true.  But you can help, by not watching them.  I guess the very nature of this podcast makes it so we are part of the problem.  Oh well.  Join us as Laura defends the RDJ/Marisa Tomei rom-com Only You.
