Sunday Thoughts From Fr. Edward Looney

On Divine Mercy Sunday 2016, Fr. Looney served as a guest preacher for St. Raphael the Archangel in Old Mill Creek, where he served as a transitional deacon. In my homily, I reflected on the movement of our hearts from doubt to certainty and trust in the Lord.

Easter Sunday celebrates an event that changes the course of history. An event that changed the disciples of Jesus. An event that changed the world's beliefs. An event that changed how the early Christians worshiped. The Resurrection of Jesus from the dead changes everything.

March 25, 2016 was not the feast of the Annunciation, but rather Good Friday. In the last time of our life, the two feasts coincide providing an opportunity to reflect on the incarnation and the crucifixion.

On Holy Thursday Jesus gave two commands: to celebrate the Eucharist in remembrance of Him and to wash the feet of others. During the Last Supper, Jesus commanded us to love. The Eucharist is the sacrament of charity.
