Our Big Game month closes on a lighthearted note as we discuss Michael Haneke's 2007 shot-for-shot Funny Games remake. We laugh; we cry; we try desperately to turn off Nascar so we can be alone with our grief. Also, even though we say next week's episode will be Albert Brooks' Real Life, we funny gamed you; it's actually Albert Brooks' Modern Romance. Boom! You got Funny Gamed!

Our Big Game month asks where your loyalties lie, as we cover 1992's Patriot Games. Do they lie with a right-wing lunatic Tom Clancy, or with Harrison Ford's Jack Ryan, who thinks maybe you shouldn't kill everyone indiscriminately just because they are in a different country. We find out when Ford takes time away from his busy schedule of crashing planes, and focuses on blowing up boats.

THE BIG GAME month kicks off with Ernest B. Schoedsack and Irving Pichel's fantastic THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME. THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME was a runaway hit story by Richard Connell, and interest in the story has carried on for nearly a century later. But back in the 1930s, two directors used the leftover KING KONG sets (Schoedsack co-directed Kong) to make a daring adaptation with splashes of intense violence and social commentary.

Our When the Small, Gets Big Month concludes when with Fight the Future, with 1998's X-Files movie. We spend a lot of this episode discussing the X-files in general, and the colonization arch, so if you have somehow remained unspoiled, please watch 200ish hours of great-to-middling television before catching up on this ep.

We decided to take a quick pause, before we finish our Die Hard series, but doing the one no one likes and we said we wouldn't cover: 2013's A Good Day to Die Hard. We'll finish up with Live Free or Die Hard next week, but we thought we give this one a shot and add a little Christmas twist.
