He currently lives in North Carolina with his wife, and daughter who served as the inspiration for two of the characters in his first book. Since the first book was published, the Penley’s added a little boy to their family. JD enjoys writing fantasy stories, with particular focus on the supernatural such as vampires and magic or immortality. He is currently working on his first series called "The Book of The Immortals" with Volume 1 titled No Peace in Death already published. Nathan is the author of The Foley Chronicles: Files from the 8th District, what he calls a faith-based crime series, with an attitude. Nathan has been writing since middle/high school, where he was involved with the school newspaper and literary magazine but didn't publish his first full length novel until 2016. His goal in writing is simply to entertain his readers and to grow a loyal fan base to spread the word about his stories. He currently resides in Alabama with his wife and five children, where he landed after his enlistment in the Army came to a conclusion. He and his wife spent ten years working with teenagers in the church, before moving on to devote more time to their special needs daughter. Cathy spent her career working with children with special needs, but despite her professional experience, it was still heart breaking for her to witness the challenges faced by her daughter, Justine. Justine always reminded Cathy of Annie Oakley. She was fierce and protective of the vulnerable, but she was also plagued by her own troubles. At a young age, Justine was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. As Justine grew up, she often made bad choices due to the traumas of her past and her mental illness.
