This Thursday marks the 50th anniversary of the 4 hour battle at Long Tan that saw Eighteen Australians lose their lives, 24 receive various wounds, and at least 245 of the enemy killed. It is that event that is used to mark Vietnam Veterans day. The Viet Vets motto is to *Honour the dead but fight like hell for the living*. Barwon Health, in partnership with Monash Health, is proud to bring the Reel Health International Short Film Festival back to the Barwon region from 4th to the 29th of August. The festival was held in Geelong for the first time in 2015 and is an innovative platform for filmmakers and film-goers to talk about genuine health issues and how they affect different communities. IDAHO Day on May 17th. It was created in 2004 to draw the attention of policymakers, opinion leaders, social movements, the public and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people internationally, and is the date it 1990 when the WHO removed it from their list of mental health disorders. Since then it has been called IDAHOT and now Geelong is calling it IDAHOBIT. Geelong Mums was officially established in April 2013 and held its first collection event on 1 June 2013. For just over 12 months they operated from a small shed and from volunteers homes. By August 2014 they had grown to the point that they appointed Kate Kent as General Manager, and moved into a large warehouse in South Geelong.
