Two Minorities Roll Up To A Bar-cast

There's a big film coming out this weekend so of course we're doing a podcast on TV shows! As promised, we have decided to cover two shows that are heavy on the female characters, Jessica Jones and Scream Queens. We go in depth on why the shows work, who our favorite characters are, and how feminism and female stories are portrayed through the superhero and horror genres. Enjoy!

On the Floor is back! We know it's been a while so we have a pretty wide ranging episode for you where we cover everything from why The Good Dinosaur is such a mess to how the conversation around Adele is less about her music than her sales. You see what happens when one of the podcast duo goes on a filmmaking journey, the other one just does foolish things. I hinted at this on Twitter but here is the dramatic reading of the Zola story. A few observations: 1) I didn't realize just how long the story was till I read it out loud. Bitch that was 20+ mins! Did she have carpel tunnel by the end of composing the tweets??? 2)Zola is basically me if I was a trapping, Hooters working stripper. 3) This broad Zola took a hoe trip with someone she knew for one day. Chile my friends cant even get me out of the house...

Most of our topics tend to be brought on by positive things, but this week's was brought on by the unfortunate passing of horror master Wes Craven. For this episode we take a look at the long winding road that horror has taken in the industry, Wes Craven's impact, and where the genre can go from here.

This week's episode is much ado about a lot of topics. Spagettit has come back from Camden and we covered a million topics. First, we talk about the year in music and stan out a bit over the new Jojo tracks. We then take a brief moment to drag filmmakers Quentin Taratino and Colin Treverrow for their comments on women, David O. Russell movies, and foul language. Then, we get into our major topic which comes on the heels of him watching the first season of The 100 and what it takes to make a good team drama.

This week's episode of On the Floor finds myself and Spagettit at our most combative strangely as we talk about diversity within big studio films. More than just a discussion, we really try and figure out what it will take for an industry that is geared towards bigger and bolder big budget films to truly embrace diversity. Enjoy!

The alternate title for this podcast was going to be "The Podcast About Everything and Nothing" but SEO...so here we are. Spagettit is back from his three week absence on the podcast and we just get right into it talking about the idiocy of this Drake and Meek Mill beef, wonder why Nicki is so pressed about Anaconda, the issues with The Revenant, AND talk about long running franchises. On the Floor with Le Noir Auteur and Spagetit is back with an episode that is neither recorded on the floor and sans a podcast host. Not to matter though, I have roped in two friends Joey and Kristen to come chat with me (on the couch) about the new season of True Detective. We rant and rave and hem and haw about the unevenness, Taylor Kitsch being "locked in", and feminism. Enjoy!

On the Floor Comic Con exclusive! One of the highlights of my Comic-Con (and year if we're being honest) was getting to chat with Alex Woolfson. For those of you unfamiliar with him, Alex is an award nominated writer of graphic novels, lover of scifi and action, and genuinely an awesome person (and a Bay Area resident!). All of his work is free (!!!) on the internet, which was how yours truly came upon Artifice, his Lambda Award finalist piece about the relationship between an inhuman and a human. It's a wonderful piece and now he's moved on to bigger things, The Young Protectors, which follows a group of young superheros and specifically Kyle, a gay kid who runs into the villain Annihilator after leaving a gay bar, and who gets drawn in by him. I spoke with Alex about those two works, how he got his start, and how genre can be used to tell LGBTQ stories.

With the newest announcement of Tom Holland as Spider-man and an article for The Atlantic, Spagettit and I debate whether the British have actually taken over, the pros and cons of acting training, and give you a brief detour to Colton Haynes.

With much of the news and discourse these past few weeks surrounding white people attempting to be black and do black things, On the Floor tackles what happens when white directors decide they want to tell black stories. We argue quite a bit about whether it works, who did it best, and where we are supposed to go from here. There's also minimal mention of that broad Rachel Dolezal. Enjoy.

With Jurassic World making a gazillion dollars and everyone cementing Chris Pratt, we take a look at the history of the star system, how we do and should determine what a star is and where we go from here.
