Your pension is safe. In this presentation, Dr Tim Rideout from the Scottish Currency Group sets out the implications for independence on various kinds of pensions - including state pension, public sector, private, self invested, Scottish and Uk civil service. In 2014 the effect on pensions was a key question in the debate on Scottish Independence. It will undoubtedly be so again in the #indyref23 campaign.  But this time, we have the answers at our fingertips. It is ON!  Today the FM announces the date for Indyref 2 and sets out the process to take us there, with a plan B as backup in case the Westminster government continues to deny democracy.  A powerful performance, and seems to have taken the opposition by surprise, judging by their responses.

Dublin based academic and former journalist Dr Paul Gillespie was the guest speaker at two indy events, organised by Grassroots Oban and Glasgow Pensioners for Independence. Our podcast this week takes a selection of questions from both events and Dr Gillespie shares his perspective of likely futures for Scotland, Ireland, the Uk and EU in this fascinating discussion.
