    My 16 y.o. son is 4 months post Surgery from an ACL and meniscus repair. His PT said it was time to ask his ortho for a sports brace fitted for activity. He went to his ortho doc who said he didn’t need a brace. He said they don’t typically fit braces for ACL repairs but only do it if it makes the patient feel better. My son is a soccer goalie, so playing without a brace sounds great. Obviously we’re not there yet. My son has been cleared to run, bike, juggle, and light passing. So, is the work now just strengthening the leg? At what point did you stop PT and then did you enlist a trainer to get your kiddo game fit?

Raised in Huntington, New York, Kaehler began rowing at the age of sixteen at the Sagamore Rowing Club, NY, and continued through his undergraduate college years at Rutgers University, and as a graduate at Columbia University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1991. During the course of an athletic career that spanned three decades, Kaehler participated in three Olympic Games (1992, 1996 and 2000) as a member of the U.S. Men’s National Rowing Team. He also competed in seven World Rowing Championships, winning in 1994 as well as an unprecedented three-year run in 1997, 1998 and 1999 in the Men’s Open 8+.
