The world is clearly changing and so is education. So this episode is about learning to unlearn what we know about teaching and schooling. And we’ll hear from some of those involved a new project that’s challenging what it could mean, or even what it should mean to be a teacher today.

In this episode, EHS goes to Washington, There are a lot of different ways to help struggling communities heal and thrive. And in this episode, we hear from an EHS student who wanted learn how she could better serve her local community by learning the ins and outs of our political system. And, along the way, she also unexpectedly found herself helping another local community heal in the aftermath of a national tragedy.

It’s a pretty pivotal time for school psychologists today. Especially as we continue to hear about the debates between parents and teachers and administrators and politicians, all about how to best ensure the safety and productivity of schools. Guns and violence, certainly, have been big topics in the news recently. But there is also many other more day-to-day concerns that students and schools must also manage. So in this episode, we talk about the critical role that school psychologists play. How they help schools address some of their more serious concerns, and even about some of the ways we can all help students live emotionally healthy and more productive lives.

In this episode, we talk with Dr. Dean Smith about his most recent work, some of the most common misconceptions still surrounding chiropractic care, and about the untapped potential this field may ultimately hold. Dean Smith is an exercise science specialist, a senior clinical faculty member at Miami University, and the latest recipient of the American Chiropractic Association’s 2018 Researcher of the Year Award. Alongside his award-winning research, Smith also hosts a podcast called Chiropractic Science, where he discusses new trends and findings with other leading researchers.

To a lot of people, math is notorious for seeming like it’s tedious, difficult, and even a scary subject. But according to Todd Edwards, a professor of mathematics education, it doesn’t have to be. His goal is to make math meaningful by connecting it to the lives of his students in ways that matter. He is also a big fan of writing, which he uses to teaches the historical and cultural sides of math.

In this episode, we talk to Adam Ortman, an EHS graduate who trying to address some of the problems he sees through the industry, why they might be holding some people back from living healthier lives, and how his path to success, both in wellness and in life, might serve as both a guide and an inspiration to others.

Today, many transgender issues are gaining more attention, but this awareness has not yet resolved many of the complexities and challenges that so many of these individuals face. But in this episode, we’ll learn about how new research is starting to help parents, families, and community members better understand how to help children who identify as being trans and gender non-conforming live emotionally healthier and happier lives.
