Years ago there was an evangelism program that encouraged Christians to ask their neighbor: 'If you were to die today, would you go to heaven?'  How would you respond to that question? Even the most seasoned Christian, the one who goes to church every week, might find themselves answering: 'Maybe? I hope so.'

God does want us to feel sorry for our sins, to be grieved over them, but he doesn't want us to remain there. He wants us to turn to him, to trust him, and to find forgiveness and his love through His Son Jesus Christ. In him we have hope. 

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes. It seems the older I get the quicker the years go by. As more and more candles are added to my birthday cake every year I realize this statement to be true. When I was young, in grade school, it seemed like it was an eternity to get through just one year.
