    So sanskrit doesn't always translate so well to modern languages, which is probably why we are witnessing a completely new understanding and practice of Yoga. However, some of the teachings, like the Gunas, translate just fine. Zephyr references Patanjali's Yoga Sutras to train the brain to be more meditative. In this Preamble, Zephyr describes the different "states of mind" created by the physical that might affect our Yoga practice; Tamasic, Rajasic and finding the Sattva, the balance between exhale and inhale. Innerluminosity is the theme of this Preamble to help influence your practice. Zephyr will help you to "embody this moment" and help to create intent for a practice that will keep you glowing long after you leave the mat.

  • Warmup – Rasa- Honouring what you are feeling

    Sometimes we have to fake it to become it. It is just a fact of this modern life. Reflecting on the undesirable emotions, this Warmup will help you set an intention and set a more desirable Rasa into your physical practice and help you to let go of that that does not serve you. Tap into the sensitivity of the pattern of breath that will guide your mind and intention.  Let it nourish the mind body and soul. This is the Warmup for any practice that needs a bit of inspiration to open the heart and quiet the mind.

    Zephyr sets up a practice with intent, called sadhana. This is a Preamble for your own practice to find the sadhana that neutralises the feeling and emotion that is consuming you today. In this Preamble she explains the 4 positive, the 4 negative and the 1 neutral emotion that we all feel.  Calmness, the neutral emotion is what we strive to achieve and this Preamble will help you to find it. Set intention on the mat today, bring the heat and welcome the love, joy and courage and let Zephyr's words inspire you.

  • Preamble – Bhava – Feeling of Emotion

    In this Preamble for your practice, Zephyr expands on her recent Podcast - Rasa, to explain how the feeling of emotion and tapping into those feelings is mapped through the Chakras of the body. Each of the 7 Chakras are the manifestations of emotion felt at different parts of the body. These emotions are often created by thoughts and chemical reactions then are created and physically felt in different locations throughout the body. Zephyr goes on to explain "butterflies in your stomach", "finding your voice" and a bit of "out of body experiences" based on the Granthis. This is a powerful Preamble to help you find courage and understanding of the psycho-physical-spiritual connection of thought, how it affects the body and how the body can, in turn be used to affect the mind and the spirit.

    Zephyr's preambles are a great way to set an intention and give the mind a bit of focus as you begin your practice. In the previous podcast, Zephyr talked about using the breath to create a presence and the ability to welcome compassion into your practice. As you have now listened to the preamble and have a mental focus, now it is time to create a physical focus by peppering that same intention into the physical body. This warmup is great for any Yogi who has a regular practice they might do on their own but might need a new way to mentally, spiritually and physically create a new intention on the mat. Listen to the preamble first, then be ready to slowly welcome this intention as you warmup for your own practice.
