  • Lindsay Mayuga - Present or Performing

    06/03/2023 Duración: 13min

Are you showing your clients who you are and meeting them with whatever is, or are you putting on a show?I was that person…someone who had an act. This week’s episode was inspired by Jay Shetty when I heard him speak about losing his initial passion and zest for the Facebook videos he used to post. He said after a while, it became a performance and stoped serving him. So he let that go.I can relate to this being in the salon and putting on my own performance before I got honest with myself. Take a listen. • Lindsay Mayuga - Choose Your Hard

    27/02/2023 Duración: 10min

Even though I had a sense of comfort when I kept my head down, what I was really doing was front loading my own discomfort, for others. I had a life of a slow drip discomfort and never really knew how bad I felt. Today’s episode, I go on to discuss how I flipped that around. I chose to do the hardest things, the most uncomfortable things, the scariest things…for myself. I risked a lot and I’m so glad I did because it made me and my life what it is today.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent. • Lindsay Mayuga - We Live and Learn Through Contrast

    06/02/2023 Duración: 11min

This week’s episode of She Makes Waves, I chat about how I've thought alot about the contrast, the yin and yang of life in the last couple years as I rebuilt my marriage, run the salon and spend time with my little girl. Without the dark, would I be able to see the light as I do now?I don’t believe we should let the past go and totally forget about bad things that have happened, but rather learn from it and allow it shine light on the good. Take listen to my thoughts on this. I hope you’re able to allow the bad moments to illuminate the good ones.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent. • Lindsay Mayuga - Case Studies

    02/01/2023 Duración: 17min

I’ve reframed my thinking about mistakes or mishaps. Now I look at them as case studies.Today’s episode is all about how doing so, I’ve been able to learn so much through these experiences. Often these case studies cost me a lot of money (ie. hiring my first assistant in the salon.) But I don’t learn from other people’s advice or warnings. I learn by my own case studies because, at the end of the day, my life is completely different then theirs. Are you able to look back at your life ‘mishaps’ and see them as informative ‘case studies’ instead? Maybe this episode will help you reframe your thinking when something inevitably goes awry. Not only is it a learning experience, it helps me move through it.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent. • Lindsay Mayuga - Avoidable Suffering

    15/12/2022 Duración: 16min

This bonus episode is inspired by a client and her husband. They coined the term ‘avoidable suffering’.You see it all the time…people give their time or energy because of expectation, not because of joy. Especially around the holidays. So I made it a point to stop and think about this as we approached Thanksgiving, as we were hosting. One of the things I chose to NOT do, was make my corn casserole. Instead I chose to show up with a good attitude and no stress. And you know what? No one complained about not having corn casserole. Everyone had such a nice night. I go on to talk about other aspects of my life that I love and have consciously decided not to suffer or trudge through. In the salon, with creating this podcast, the dog, etc. After listening, I challenge you to give yourself permission to let your avoidable suffering go.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent waitlist!

  • Lindsay Mayuga - Stop Trying to Make It Work

    14/11/2022 Duración: 13min

This week’s episode was inspired by my friend Teddy and how the nail gal she likes to go to just doesn’t work for her ideal schedule. I know that seems silly but I’m often reminded of this conversation. Whether it’s something as simple as a nail appointment, or daycare for my daughter. Sometimes trying so hard to make things fit into our lives doesn’t allow us to be living our highest life…it causes stress and puts us in a scarcity mindset. So if you’re holding onto something that just isn’t working out, see that as a sign and let it go. And if you want to hear about the time I tried my wedding dress on (10 years later) you should take a listen below.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent waitlist!

  • Lindsay Mayuga - What Do They Know That I Don't?

    07/11/2022 Duración: 10min

Do you ever go into panic mode when someone makes a bold decision, thinking you need to do that too because they MUST know something I don't?Back at my first salon, I found myself in a situation where I was letting another’s decision of leaving the salon, scare me into thinking they knew something I didn’t know. Now I realize that was silly. They were doing them. And I needed to do me.Whenever the thought ‘they must know something I don’t’ comes up, I now look at it very differently.Take a listen to today’s episode where I break down how I use these situations as fuel to look at my own life.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent waitlist!

  • Lindsay Mayuga - A Shouldy Life

    31/10/2022 Duración: 11min

Recently at a half-day women’s retreat here in Chicago, one of these amazing women said something that stood out and stuck with me. I knew I had to use it as a topic for the podcast. In today’s episode, I'm talking about breaking the status quo and taking the road less traveled. Because, to me, a ‘shouldy’ life is a sh*tty life. But where do these ‘shoulds’ come from? We should do this, we should do that. Not only in our business but in our personal lives as well. Which is something I’m learning as a parent. If you take the road less traveled and let go of the things we ‘should’ be doing, where do you think it would take you? Maybe to a life that honors yourself a little bit more. Take a listen.Follow along on Instagram: @LindsaymakeswavesStay connected with all the latest happenings with LindsayShe Nets Worth: hairstylist's guide to going independent waitlist!
