Sinopsis

While Seattle had Nirvana and Olympia had Sleater-Kinney, Issaquah Washington had it’s own great 90’s power trio in Modest Mouse, a band of weirdos who had a kick-ass rhythm section with chops for days and a singer/songwriter in guitarist Issac Brock, that had the perfect lisp-ridden voice to convey his stories of suburban America's dark decay with equal measure anger, frustration and disappointment. Their 1997 sophomore LP is arguably their creative peak, each song sounding more vital and urgent than the next. They would go to build a discography of great releases but nothing ever quite reached the consistent heights of The Lonesome Crowded West.      Recommended Listening   Movie Pitchfork Classic: Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West https://youtu.be/G33AcZzZ0pM?si=oEt0P0pbSMJy4-7t   HHPP Spotify Track:  “Cowboy Dan” https://open.spotify.com/track/5A0iajc7nhlZv9tGDHqZya?si=acfac00ecdaa4f8a   Spotify Playlist:  https://open.spotify.com/user/1298220
