ClanDestine #1 (1994)ClanDestine is one of the most jabroni forgotten teams that have ever been produced in comics. I’ve had a beef with this book for simply existing, dating all the way back to 1994.Anyway, a feudal villager made love with a genie and all their kids were immortal and had varied degrees of power gimmicks. Then THOSE peoples kids were born with powers and so on yet somehow, they all remained brother and sister. The current crop is made up of a constantly nude blue giant, a couple lame teenagers and a woman who becomes a cat after Edna Mode in a trucker hat severs her spine. Machine Man [vol 2] #2 (1984)In one year from now — 2020 — we will have flying cars and sentient robots coming out of our ears as far as the Machine Man future is concerned. Also, Iron Man’s going to look really strange with his Jack-O-Lantern mouth. The Mighty Thor #443 (1992)Thunderstrike “Thor” hands over his hammer to Mephisto like an idiot so Thor barges into Dr. Strange’s house to have Strange send him to actual Hell to get it back. X-Men 2099 #19 (1995)We get thrust into the mediocre world of 2099 as Meanstreak helps save Halloween Jack’s casino from Channing Tatum on Bane venom while Krystalin jailbreaks a Jonathan Taylor Thomas-looking brat for cyber-reasons. That would be a great title for a 2099 book….CYBER REASONS 2099. Throw ‘em all in there and see what happens — Spider-Ham 2099, Channing Tatum 2099, Billy Ray Cyrus 2099. Secret Society of Super-Villains #13 (1978)The eponymous secret society featuring a nearly nude Wizard and ultimate DC jobber Captain Comet fart around in the timestream and end up on the Crime Syndicate’s Earth. Battles ensue so the secret villains decide the only way back home is to steal gimmicks from the Syndicate — include Johnny Quick’s Mark Kelso Wazoo helmet — and make a stew that will rip open the space/time continuum. Heady stuff. Marvel Premiere #27 (1975)Satana ends up in a California coast town, possibly the Silver Shamrock town from HALLOWEEN III. She breaks up a modern day witch burning only to have the “witch” turn heel and actually BE a witch....sort of. More of a like a Satanic personal trainer that looks like Jesus Christ but dresses like Moondragon. Anyway, there’s a kid trapped in a cape somehow and cars explode. Nash #1 (1999)Former WCW and WWF World champion / MAGIC MIKE dancer Kevin Nash combined forces with Image Comics in the late 90's to create a comic about himself and his beautiful hair. Apparently in four years, the world will be seriously screwed and its full-on LAND OF THE DEAD minus zombies out there. Kevin Nash is our savior, fighting against creepy ministers and devilish women with extremely pointy dresses. Nash’s out here dropping explosive Mentos in dudes’ mouths and making sure balloon-headed kids are adequately fed in the Mad Max times. Superman #372 (1982)We’re back with more summer fun as Superman encounters a radioactive Alex Trebek, who unleash an anti-matter splotch on the Earth. You see, his government-issued android children were killed in a tidal wave so its up to Superman to take Alex Trebek back in time to save his "kids." Also, we catch up with Jimmy Olsen in 2021 where there are flying cars and stuff. Barbie Fashion #33 (1993)Let’s jump into the summer months as Barbie forcibly projects her clueless improv skills onto terrified jazz festival-goers, including Al Roker and young Steve Urkel.Later, Barbie and her cannibalistic cult of child-kidnapping friends present their heath-compromised friend with dirty seashells. Robin [vol 4] #71 (1999)An earthquake has destroyed Gotham, causing all sorts of folks to make bold fashion choices. Killer Croc is wearing paisley suspenders, Alfred’s gone plaid and Robin is walking around in his ballet shoes. Also, the GCPD and the Penguin are working together and Nightwing is in bed eating soup. Marvel Team-Up #112 (1981)Spider-Man’s astral self links up with OG Conan-type King Kull to fight barbarians for a poison cure. Along the way, Spider-Man sees the Gettysburg Address take place and hangs out with pre-historic Dr. Steve Brule. Wonder Woman #218 (1975)Red Tornado abuses his office privileges as a data temp to record a story about Wonder Woman thwarting an evil astrologist from gimmicking Diana’s invisible plane to constantly crash in the Hudson River.Later, Wonder Woman falls off a boat to stop Felix Faust and his banker hair from permanently miniaturizing the Statue of Liberty. Dr. StrangeFate #1 (1996)In the Amalgam Universe, Doctor Fate merged with Doctor Strange and became a massive sausage that ends up being Charles Xavier. No surprise there. Also, Zatanna Wanda is insatiable, Green Lantern Nova is sassy and Hulk Grundy is super emo in his trench coat. Conan The Barbarian #138 (1982)Not sure how its been this long that we’ve never done a CONAN book but here it is…In this issue, Conan fights a giant crab and octopus in a swamp and then helps a girl find her murderous wizard father. After slicing up some demon flesh, the girl’s father ends up being the snake dude from that movie DREAMSCAPE. Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen #16 (1956)Its a trio of Jimmy Olsen stories that make no damn sense:Jimmy and Superman keep plutonium in the Daily Planet fridge only for the Swami (Chris Berman) to nearly swindle them out of it by making Jimmy hallucinate.Superman carries Jimmy into the nuclear winds, turning him invincible.
