In 1 Samuel 23-25, after spending a great deal of time fleeing, we see David spare the life of Saul when given the chance to take it, only to nearly take the life of a foolish man named Nabal, later on. David is persuaded to change his mind by Nabal's wise wife Abigail. We see the Lord's provision for David, as God takes Nabal's life, and David takes Nabal's wife as his own.

As we begin our study through the book of Luke, Pastor Ryan takes a look at the announcement of the birth of John the Baptist, and Jesus. As we take a look at these two events, we see how God uses regular people to accomplish his purposes. He is simply looking for people who will have the faith to act on what He wants to do.

In 1 Samuel 21-22, we see how even David, a man after God's own heart, when faced with some fearful situations, makes stupid choices that end up effecting the lives of other people.

As we wrap up our study of 1 Thessalonians, Pastor Ryan takes a look at the Apostle Paul's closing exhortations in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-28. Even 2,000 years later, Paul's words are still very relevant to us as Christians, and there is something there for each of us to glean from.

In 1 Samuel 18-20, we begin to see Saul's sanity unravel, as he becomes jealous of the Spirit of God being with David but no longer himself. In our three chapters we see the progression take places in three ways: 1. Saul resents David (18) 2. Saul persecutes David (19) 3. Saul forces David to flee. (20)

In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, it is the tendency of many to make the focus on the end times and prophecy, instead of of Jesus, and how we are to live in light of His soon return, and of the judgment that he is bringing. Pastor Ryan teaches teaches on two main points from our text: 1. The way Jesus is going to return 2. The way we should live as a result

In 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Paul states that he doesn't want Christian's to be ignorant about the death of christians and the resurrection from the dead. Unfortunately for most Christians today, those happen to be two things that they know very little about. Pastor Ryan teaches on four points in our text: 1. The reality of death (v. 13) 2. The Resurrection from the Dead (v. 14) 3. The Return of Christ (vv. 15-16) 4. The Reunion of Believers (v. 17)

In 1 Samuel 16-17, we are introduced to David as King. In chapter 16, Samuel is told by God to stop grieving over Saul, and to head out to the family of Jesse and anoint one of his sons as King. After David is anointed, we see Saul struggling with a distressing spirit from the Lord, and only David can soothe Saul's troubled heart through his music. In chapter 17, we see David face off against Goliath. David is displayed as an example of Christ slaying our enemies of satan, sin, and death, through the power of God.

1 Samuel 15 marks the major turning point in King Saul's life. He was commanded by God, through Samuel, to utterly destroy the Amalekites and not take anything that is theirs, but instead, he chose to fear man and not God. He let the people lead him; he didn't leave the people. Consequently, Samuel is sent by God to speak to Saul and inform him that the Kingdom has been taken from him and given to his neighbor who is better than him. Pastor Ryan preaches a commanding messages about the utter gravity of our disobedience when we fail to do as God has commanded us.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12, the Apostle Paul encourages the Thessalonians to increase in their love by leading a quiet life, minding their own business, and working with their hands, in order to be an example to those who do not know Christ. Pastor Ryan gives a challenge in our witness and our work ethic from our text.

In 1 Samuel 13-14, we begin to see King Saul's downward spiral. He fails to recognize his role and King and begins to act as priest, thus ending the possibility for his kingdom to be established forever. Sadly, we find that, had his kingdom continued on, His Son, Jonathan, would have made a great king. In Chapter 14 we find Jonathan stepping out in faith that God can accomplish his desires by many or by few people. The exact opposite of what his father the king had done in the previous chapter. As we dig into these chapters, we get a case study in what Godly leadership looks like, in contrast to self-reliant, prideful leadership.

In 1 Thessalonians 4:1-8 we seek to answer three questions: 1. What does the Bible mean by "Sexual Sin"? 2. Why should we avoid sexual sin? 3. How do we stay away from sexual sin?

In chapters 11 and 12 of 1st Samuel, we see Saul filled with the Holy Spirit as he rescues the people of Jabesh Gilead. After rescuing them, Samuel takes Saul back to Gilgal and there they renew the kingdom before the people, thereby re-affirming Saul as King. With our text we look at the empowering of the Spirit, and the sinfulness of asking for a king over the Lord.

In 1 Thessalonians chapter 3, we take a look at "Handling Difficulty Christianly". We take a look at three distinctions in the life of one who handles difficulty Christianly, or Christ-like: 1. Concern for Others (vv. 1-5); Being encouraged by the success of others (vv. 6-9); and Prayer for others (vv. 10-13). These are all traits that marked the life of Paul because he spent his life in the love of Jesus Christ, which poured out into the lives of others.

In 1 Samuel chapters 8-10, we take a look at Israel's desire for a king, Samuel's warning about a king, and God's permission to give them their king; namely, Saul.
