  • Luke 8:1-21 - Audio

    15/03/2009 Duración: 41min

Who is it that you are listening to? Often, the one who has your ear has your heart. Never is this statement more true than when it comes to listening to the Word of God. Hearing alone isn't the goal, but rather, truly listening and obeying patiently. In Luke 8:1-21, we find Jesus speaking to the people in parables, specifically about how they hear the Word, and what they do about it.

  • Luke 7:18-50 - Audio

    08/03/2009 Duración: 49min

  • Luke 7:1-17 - Audio

    01/03/2009 Duración: 39min

There is an axiom that goes, "Desperate times call for desperate measures". Many of us may consider our present situation, desperate. But in light of these desperate times what are the desperate measures you are taking to bring solutions or at the very least peace in the midst of the storm? In our text we find Jesus encountering two very desperate situations. And in both of these scenarios we see that Jesus is the desperate measure for desperate times. Our text breaks down into two headings: I. A Roman soldier's sick servant (vv. 1-10) II. A widow's dead son (vv. 11-17)

  • Luke 6:37-49 - Audio

    22/02/2009 Duración: 51min

How do we respond toward those who have hurt us? Jesus has called us to love, do good, bless, and pray for those that have wronged us (6:27-28). We are to treat our enemies the way we wish they had treated us (vs. 31). So having formed the context we pick up the sermon in vs. 37 with Jesus giving us 4 commands (2 positive, 2 negative) in regard to our treatment of enemies. Our text breaks down as follows: 1. Jesus instructions in how to deal with enemies (vv. 37-38) 2. The reason illustrated (vv. 39-42) 3. The heart of the matter (vv. 43-45) 4. The importance of obedience (vv. 46-49)

  • Luke 6:12-36 - Audio

    15/02/2009 Duración: 56min

Have you ever had anyone hat your guts? How do you handle yourself in these situations? In our text we see that Jesus heads off for a time of prayer about, both, his present situation, and the disciples he will soon choose. After he selects his disciples, he begins to preach a sermon about 4 blessings, 4 woes, 4 commands, and 4 examples, to all of the followers around him. In our text we see: 1. Jesus' example (vs. 12) 2. Jesus' men (vv. 13-16) 3. Jesus' ministry (vv. 17-19) 4. Jesus' message (vv. 20-36)

  • Hebrews 1:1-3 - Audio

    08/02/2009 Duración: 46min

As Christians, if we are honest with ourselves, we have all had times where we thought, "It would be so much easier if I wasn't a Christian!" As Dr. Art Azurdia preaches on Hebrews 1:1-3, he addresses one of the main issues that the Hebrew Christians were facing; "Maybe we should just go back to Judaism. It would be so much easier on us if we weren't Christians. We wouldn't face the persecution and difficulty we are now." In Hebrews 1:1-3, Dr. Azurdia preaches on the the "Unequaled Greatness of the Son of God." In our text we see three traits that make Christ superior to all other religions and Gods, and consequently, make Him the God worth following to the ends of the earth. 1. He is the Cosmic Lord 2. He is the Incarnate God 3. He is the Priestly King

  • Luke 5:33 - 6:11 - Audio

    01/02/2009 Duración: 48min

There is a tragic digression that can take place in the life of the Christian; a digression that masquerades itself as progress but is actually just the opposite. What is this digression? It is a move away from Jesus toward rules, regulations, and tradition. It is called LEGALISM. As we look at our text, we are going to learn 5 characteristics of legalism, under two main headings: I. Jesus is questioned about fasting (5:33-39) Jesus is questioned about his attitude toward the Sabbath (6:1-11)

  • Luke 5:12-32 - Audio

    25/01/2009 Duración: 42min

If I were to ask you what the theme of the Bible is, what would you say? The theme of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation is Redemption. In our passage we will see Jesus involved in three different situations, each of which points us to a different aspect of God's plan of redemption. I. Jesus is willing to forgive sins (vv. 12-16) Jesus has the power to forgive sins (vv. 17-26) Jesus calls sinners to repent (vv. 27-32)

  • Luke 5:1-11 - Audio

    18/01/2009 Duración: 44min

When faced with the challenge given by Jesus, Peter chose to swallow his pride and do as Jesus had asked; he cast his nets out into the deep after he'd already started packing up for the day. Upon drawing his nets back in, he was given a catch so big that it because to sink both of the boats. It is at this point that Peter falls down, humbled before Jesus, and Jesus commissions his as a fisher of men. In our lives, we are often faced with a choice to obey the Lord even when it seems foolish. When we choose to obey, however, we find ourselves humbled at the feet of Jesus.

  • 1 Samuel 29-31 - Audio

    14/01/2009 Duración: 37min

As we finish our study through the book of 1 Samuel, we find the tragic end for the life of Saul and his son Jonathan. David's own sinfulness leads him to a place where he almost has to go to battle against his own people. 1 Samuel doesn't end on a high note, but we are left with the reality of what can happen when sin goes un-checked.

  • Luke 4:14-44 - Audio

    11/01/2009 Duración: 32min

After Jesus has been tested while in the wilderness, Luke 4:14-44, details the beginnings of Jesus' earthly ministry. As Jesus enters the synagogue, he picks up the scroll of Isaiah and reads about the role of the Messiah. Upon Concluding this, he says that this passage has been fulfilled in their hearing. Immediately people begin to ask questions to challenge these claims. Jesus passes from their midst and begins to perform miracles and preach the gospel in the area.

  • 1 Samuel 26-28 - Audio

    07/01/2009 Duración: 01h03min

In 1 Samuel 26-28, we find David being given the chance to take Saul's life, but instead sparing him to prove that he has done nothing to wrong him. After proving this to Saul, David is invited to come and live in Israel once again, but he chooses not to trust Saul, and instead stays with the enemy. As enemy troops are coming against Israel, Saul isn't hearing from God anymore, so he goes to a spiritist to bring up the spirit of Samuel. Samuel tells him that he has a done a sinful thing is bringing him up, and that both Saul and his sons will be killed the next day in battle.

  • Luke 4:1-13 - Audio

    04/01/2009 Duración: 44min

At this point in our text, we are thrust into the life of Jesus. He has been baptized by John the baptist, and declared to be God's beloved son in whom He is well pleased. Now, He is led into the desert to be tested and tried. As we study our text we see that even though Jesus' temptations weren't necessarily the same things that would tempt us, however, his approach to overcoming them is still the same way that we are to overcome temptation. Jesus proves to us that we can have victory, because He has given it to us.

  • Luke 3 - Audio

    28/12/2008 Duración: 49min

In Luke chapter 3, we get a glimpse into the preparation behind Jesus' earthly ministry. We aren't given much information on the life of Jesus before the three years of his ministry, but we can be certain that there was much preparation. Our Text is broken up into two categories: 1. John the baptist (vv. 1-22) 2. Jesus' genealogy (vv. 23-38)

  • Luke 2 - Audio

    21/12/2008 Duración: 44min

Christmas is a time of year where many people celebrate, but none can agree on why they are celebrating. Some say it's about family, others say it's about giving, and still some say it's just another consumer holiday. While all of those things may occur around Christmas, at it's core, Christmas is about Jesus Christ, coming to live among us, as one of us, and to die in our place in order to redeem us. In Luke chapter two, we see four main events occur: 1. Jesus' Birth 2. Announcement to the Shepherds 3. Jesus Presented in the Temple 4. Jesus in Jerusalem
