Money is often considered a hot-button topic in churches. Much of this of due to the mis-teaching of scriptural principals on money, stewardship, and giving. In Philippians 4:10-23, Pastor Ryan takes a look at the way Paul taught on the issue of money, and how we can take joy in money if we handle it in a correct, biblical manner.

In Philippians 4:1-9, the Apostle Paul urges us to be anxious for nothing, but rather, to bring everything to God. Consequently, in so doing, the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and minds. For us to worry is to doubt the faithfulness of God, and His ability to accomplish what concerns us. Worry is a sin that is so easily over-looked, and yet so very necessary to put to death. As we look at our text, we find the answers to facing our troubles are grounded in faith in Christ.

In session 3 of "Parenting is Heart Work", Pastor John Sanne introduces us to a toolbox of consequences. In so doing, he gives us a variety of tools, each fit for a certain purpose and function in disciplining our children.

In Joshua chapters 4 and 5, the major theme is trust. Trust in the Lord to accomplish His work. Trust that God is good, faithful, and His word will not go unfulfilled. In our own lives it is easy for distrust and doubt to overtake us, and keep us from dwelling in the place that God has for us. We must not allow the enemy of our souls to sow those seeds of doubt in our hearts. We must trust that the same God who promised is also the one who will bring it to pass.

In Philippians 3:17-21, the Apostle Paul speaks of the Joy that comes in realizing who we are, what we are, and to whom we belong. For many Christians, it is easy to get sidetracked in our walk with Christ, and to begin to preach something other than the cross of Christ; be it another doctrine, or simply a lifestyle that doesn't reflect the power of the Christ in our lives. It it good to be reminded that we are citizens of Heaven, and therefore, we should behave as such.

As we take a look at Philippians 3:12-16, we find the Apostle Paul using the analogy of a runner running a race, and applying that to how we out to live our Christian lives. We are to pursue Jesus, and run our race in total abandon to Him. Not allowing the mistakes that have tripped us up in the past determine how we will run in the present, we should live with eyes fixed on the prize, namely, Jesus Christ.

In Joshua chapter 3, we find Joshua being commanded by the Lord to lead the people across the Jordan River. In order to do so, they have to take that step of faith and enter the water. We take a look at the faith that is required for obedience to the Lord.

In Philippians 34-11, we take a look at the Joy Paul had in Jesus, and that we too can, and should, have. We all too easily mistake our happiness as God's chief concern for our lives, when nothing could be further from the truth. Happiness is based on our circumstances, but our Joy is ultimately based on Jesus. We have have great joy even in the midst of the worst of circumstances, and the best.

In Philippians 3:1-13, Paul is going to write about things that he writes about a lot: Relationship to God. But he doesn't mind repeating himself at all, because he says it's safe. Many in Paul's day were going around and using the name of Jesus but adding to his finished work of salvation with rules of don't touch, don't taste, don't feel. And to top that all off, they emphasized circumcision as a requirement for a relationship with God. False relationship with God can creep into our lives. We must be reminded all the time, just as Paul has done here in our text.

As we look at Joshua 2, we find that these aren't dead words, but rather, words that are still relevant and powerful for today. As Joshua sends men to spy out the land again, he uses his past experiences to do it better, by sending only 2 men, and determining that they were going no matter what. As the men are in the city of Jericho, they are assisted by a woman named Rahab, who was a prostitute by trade. Rahab is given insight into the Lord's work of giving Israel the land.

In Philippians 2:19-30, we take a look at what it means to have joy in serving the Lord. While this may seem to be, at first glance, a simple concept, often times such isn't the case. Because of pride, many people will fight serving others because they believe they should be getting served instead. Or, they would rather complain against those in charge.

As we begin our study in the book of Joshua, we are introduced more fully to the person of Joshua. Joshua, is in fact, the same name as Jesus in the new testament. Moses represented the law, while Joshua represent Christ. It took the death of Moses, quite literally the death of the law, to bring about the opportunity to enter into all that God had for them.

In Philippians 2:12-18, we find the Apostle Paul speaking of the joy we should have as we grow. As we look at our text, we find that there are many ways that we can grow and have joy in growth, but that it requires working out what God has worked into us. We are to grow by yielding, by shining, and by giving.
