19/08/2025 Duración: 08minChristopher Lathan, MD, Chief Clinical Access Officer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute ● Dr. Christopher Lathan is the Chief Clinical Access Officer at Dana-Farber, founding Director of the Cancer Care Access Program and a clinical oncologist focusing on lung cancer. ● His research is centered on the effects of race, class, and access to care in cancer outcomes, including racial disparities in lung cancer treatment, differences in access to precision medicine by race and social class and equitable distribution of new treatment across historically marginalized populations. ● Dr. Lathan aims to bridge the gap between research in disparities and the realities of patient care by developing interventions to increase access to high quality care, developed in part through community engagement.

19/08/2025 Duración: 19minWyatt Amaral, 9 months old, glioma, Whitman, with parents Becca and Denis Amaral ● When Wyatt was 3 months old, his parents noticed that his head was rapidly growing. His head grew from the 17th percentile to the 99th percentile. X-rays revealed he had tumors in his brain. His treatment has included multiple surgeries and chemotherapy and he is expected to complete treatment in July of next year. Today he is tumor free. ● Wyatt enjoys developing new skills like standing and jumping, playing with his 4 cats. He loves trying new foods and salmon is his favorite food. He has twin cousins who he enjoys playing with as well. ● His parents are so appreciative of the Jimmy Fund Clinic for all of their support and help throughout a difficult process.

She has been a nurse for eight years transitioning from the population of adult solid tumor oncology to pediatric oncology. ● At the Jimmy Fund Clinic, she is solid tumor nurse navigator. As a nurse navigator, she assists with guiding young patients and their families through the complex cancer diagnosis and treatment. They coordinate care and provide continuous education and support. ● In her free time, Emily enjoys running and will be running the Boston Half presented by Dana-Farber and Jimmy Fund in November. 19/08/2025 Duración: 10minMacFarlane Energy Founder, Peter MacFarlane, was born in Boston's South End in 1919. Son to a widowed mother of three, Peter began working in the oil business at the age of 12. He worked part time, after school, delivering oil in five-gallon cans. Following his service in the Pacific Theatre of World War II, Peter returned to the oil business he had worked for before the war. In 1946, he purchased the business and established Peter MacFarlane Oil Inc. When Peter MacFarlane passed away in 1987 his son Scott took over operations. A Needham resident, Scott works alongside his wife of 50 years, Cathy, and son Scott E. Scott’s dedication to philanthropy includes giving back to the communities his company serves by supporting local non-profit organizations including the Light Foundation, South Shore YMCA, The Home for Little Wanderers, The Salvation Army, The Charles River Center, CCALS (Compassionate Care ALS), Dana Farber, Boston Centers for Youth & Families, and others.

John Stewart, 67, prostate cancer, Medford
19/08/2025 Duración: 07minFor four years, starting in 2012, John was under active surveillance for elevated PSA levels. Biopsy and other tests confirmed a prostate cancer diagnosis. At the time of his diagnosis, John was Dana-Farber's Vice President of Finance. He has since retired. Two years after his diagnosis, a second biopsy indicated faster progression. John underwent surgery to remove his prostate, but his cancer had spread. John’s treatment included hormone and radiation therapy, and active monitoring. John was in remission for a year when his PSA levels came back elevated, and his cancer returned. John underwent more treatment and active monitoring. John completed radiation last September.
