Back then, there were NO independent comics -- and certainly no female comic-book artists -- until Wendy Pini broke the mold with ElfQuest, a richly detailed fantasy that can be enjoyed on multiple levels (with her husband Richard handling the administrative publisher side). I first discovered it when I was in college, but Amber Skies, a professional "CosPlayer," has been a lifelong fan! She joins me this morning to help me introduce you to incredible art and sprawling saga of Elfquest, often considered to be the first American Manga.
