Ulla Vangelis – Leslie Reggie Carlisle – John (Beta) Trae Mowaka- Jesse Jack Nash – John (Prime) GM- Tod Foley In the morning they’re awakened by an alert from Trae’s drone: there are vehicles coming up the road in this direction. It’s a traveling scavenger/trader who calls himself “Trueblood,” and his two motorcycle-riding companions. They’re decked out in tribal regalia, and they’re eager to trade. Trae and Ulla cough up the torch and fuel they’d taken from Kek’s clan, and Nash decides to throw in the Viber 5 tent. In exchange they pick up two machine pistols, a blade for Nash, a stun baton, and some clothes for Reggie. Before he leaves, Trueblood warns them to be on the lookout for drones; there’s a salvage operation later today. The group moves on, and eight hours later they arrive within view of the south end of the city. There’s an immigration intake office beside the train tunnel, but given the weaponry they’re carrying, they decide to take the surreptitious route. Reggie dreams up some stairs, and

Ulla and Nash are struggling to deal with what they’re seeing and hearing. Frank’s lips are moving, but Reggie can’t hear what he’s saying, and darkness closes in as reality tunnels away from him. As everything grows fuzzy, he has a warm and familiar sensation of being cuddled in the loving arms of a gigantic voluptuous maternal figure. He’s torn between the two overlapping realities, but he makes a choice: he wants to be with his friends. Reggie pushes his consciousness back down into Ulla’s world — where he reforms in his adult body, totally naked — as Frank falls to the ground, holding his head. Nash and Reggie hug in a joyful reunion, while Ulla crouches to the ground and begins rocking quietly. She taps on the glass of his jar. "Do you think Frank did this to you?" she asks. He says no. She continues: "You don’t think you’d do it to yourself, would you?" Reggie laughs, because it’s not hard to imagine that. "But would you do it to him?" she asks, gesturing at Nash. That stops his laughter. No, he wouldn’t do that to Nash. Ulla believes that the jar is no more than appearance; that actually it's all just part of Reggie. But there’s only one way to find out. She asks him if he’d like to try something, and he agrees. Ulla lets her nanobots fly, and they quickly dissemble Reggie’s jar. The infant and its surrounding faux-amniotic fluid spill into the dirt. The group realizes they’re looking at themselves from a few days ago, the day they found the canister. It’s like a mirror into the past, with the canister sitting dead center. Before anyone can do anything, the vortex closes. As this happens Reggie tries to send a psychic message through the vortex, to himself or whomever is on the other side. He gets the feeling his message went through, but he has no idea who received it. There was something different about that one, and Reggie can’t get it out of his head. It didn’t have the usual “Flux Storm” feeling he and Nash had identified earlier. Much worse: it felt like Frank. Ulla Vangelis – Leslie Reggie Carlisle – John (Beta) Trae Mowaka- Jesse Jack Nash – John (Prime) GM- Tod Foley Ulla sends out her nanobots in an attempt to halt the timing mechanism, while Nash and Trae are quick to fire at the canister and Ulla's swarm diverts to follow it, while Reggie defuses it mentally. The canister is theirs. When Ulla explains how the vortex event seemed like a literal copy of the first time — lighting, shadows and all — Reggie and Nash begin wondering what exactly Wolfram has been doing to the timeline. "Maybe they simply fucked up," says Reggie. "That's how the Frank situation happened." They all tend to Whisper, who seems to be fine, just a little shaken. The Vortex simply shrugged off her powers. Reggie takes advantage of the moment to teach her that it's not all fun and games; sometimes *things push back*. Reggie goes on to explain to Ulla about Flux Storms. He and Nash are growing more convinced that's exactly what's happening here; it's as though someone is using the forces

Trae sleeps late and seems distant, as he's still processing what happened between him and Ulla the night before. The kids are a handful; Noah sometimes picks on Max and Whisper's powers are growing; she uses her mind to coax a rat out of hiding, and in her newfound confidence she steps off the roof of the RV and slows her fall just before hitting the ground. Praised by Reggie, she repeats the feat, to everyone's amusement. It becomes clearer than ever that they can'[t take this child to the city; she'd become a medical experiment. And so they set off to complete their westward journey to the power plant, just half a day away. Ulla keeps the kids busy playing "the finding game" along the way. They're hoping Kek will take the children in, but there's no telling for sure, and in any case, Whisper needs to learn some restrai
