Our culture dreams about a community that will not be divided by petty jealousy, that will not be repulsed by human frailty and will find reconciliation. And yet, at every attempt, our world is finding this dream unattainable. Communities are fracture by petty jealousy, spiteful deeds and relational friction. I believe the Church is the hope for the world’s dream of community. The greatest evangelism strategy in the world is not bulk mailings, social media or crusades with celebrity “Christians.” The world is looking for community—Jesus said they should find it among His disciples. When our love for each other is greater than our conflicts, we are witnesses of Jesus’ community. -Pastor Jeff

There is something so profound, that most Believers struggle to embrace it—it is simply this: God does not think like us, and we do not think like God. Truly, God is not who we think He is-- God is who he says He is. This is never more true than when you look at the future as it is revealed in the Bible. In order to embrace what is going to happen, God will need to change the way we think; we will get started on that transformation Sunday

A prospective buyer took a walk to survey a parcel of land he was thinking about buying. In a remote spot on the land, concealed perfectly, he noticed a shiny object. A little digging and poking around exposed a massive cache of gold coins. He carefully closed up the hole and left. The price of the land was too expensive for his cash and borrowing power, so he sold everything he had to buy the land. He knew the land contained more than enough to compensate for his sacrifice. Jesus said that this is how the Kingdom of God works. We will be discussing the value of God's Kingdom Sunday.

In part 7 of "The Kingdom of Heaven is Near" we pivot to the subject of the earthly battle that rages between God's Kingdom and the kingdom of darkness.

Am I getting it right? Is this one of the most relevant questions in life? Last Sunday we began to biblical search for the answer to this question. We learned that getting it right begins with getting our spirit right through genuine new birth, and that the grace that saves us must become the grace that flows through us. Sunday we will continue this exploration of spiritual morality by examining what God considers Kingdom morality.

You don't need to be great-- God's greatness is more than enough! I am still celebrating the strong sense of God's presence we had in the service Sunday. God wants us to know that His power is available ... here's my suggestion on how to receive it into your life: Celebrate the power that is already transforming your life. Understand that the power of God is a work of grace-- you don't need to be something special. Understand that His power works through us unless we resist it-- we do this by demanding control. God's power is so potent that only He can track its progress-- let Him keep score. Get to know the King through His Word and prayer.

The work of God is accomplished by the power of God-- nothing else will do. We must understand that God's plans for His Kingdom include putting His power in you so you can effectively do His will. Sunday we will examine how and why God needs to make you a person of power.

Is there any royal blood in your veins? The Bible says we are a kingdom and priests to serve Him.You have been invited to participate in the life of His kingdom. In this sermon, we will continue the "Kingdom" series by examining how life in earthly part of God's kingdom works.

The Kingdom of Heaven is Near

I am so excited to start a new series this "Palm Sunday" and for the Easter Season. Jesus' first sermon was only a few words long, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." He warned His listeners that everything was about to change because of His life, death and resurrection. As we look back on the resurrection, it is critical that we understand how His Kingdom works and how we fit into it.

We have heard that sticks and stones are all we need to worry about, but it turns out that there is real danger in the power of words. We will never have peace until we learn to deal biblically with weaponized words used against us. Sunday we will conclude the current series on The Gift of Rest.

Eden has become the symbol of perfection. Taken from the pages of Genesis, we often use the word to paint of a picture of the ideal place. Did you know that the Bible starts and ends with humanity standing in Eden, near the Tree of Life? In this Sunday's message, I will complete the sermon on the end of the age. We will see how God will use the coming judgments to restore humanity to the original created condition.

The end is coming! This truth can strike fear into any heart. When the world seems to be dying before our eyes, how can we keep peace in your hearts? This is the question Paul deals with in his letter to the Thessalonians. Confusion about Gods plan for the end of the age had created distress for them. Sunday we will seek peace from Paul's instructions on how to face the end of time with joy and peace in our hearts. (Worship set included)

Anxiety is kept alive in our lives by two fallacies. The first fallacy is that it's all up to God-- we will have peace when He gives it. The second fallacy is that it's all up to us-- we will have peace when we fix what's broken in us. The truth that defeats both these fallacies is that God partners with us to defeat our anxieties and protect our peace. Sunday I will be taking a biblical look at God's part and our part in defeating anxiety and receiving God's peace.

Spiritual life is a progressive journey toward the heart of God. Your spiritual life began with a step toward God and it continues to grow with subsequent steps deeper into His will. A major problem with the church today, is it is getting harder and harder to persuade people to keep growing in their spiritual life. Join us Sunday as we consider what God wants us to know about the next steps in our spiritual life....The first step isn't the last step!

The contents of your soul are under pressure. One passage of Scripture describes earthly life as afflicted, perplexed, persecution and cast down. In other words, the contents of your spiritual life are under pressure in this fallen world. The Bible says that your "clay jar" (physical body) contains a resource that can never be crushed by the pressure of earthy life. Read 2 Corinthians 4 and be ready for an amazing study of peace under pressure this Sunday!

It's a dog eat dog world out there or so they say. Nevertheless, God designed human life to be lived in a community. This principle takes on even greater avenues when it comes to Believers. God's plan to fill your life with rest and peace will involve the community of Believers. Sunday's message will delve into the ways the spiritual community is a lifeline when things get tough.

Paul was a famous missionary in the first century. He was familiar with large crowds, miracles and jail cells. That's right--jail cells. Paul's ministry seemed to be a constant source of stress and danger for him and those who traveled with him. On occasion Jesus Himself would appear to Paul and encourage him not to be afraid. Have you ever noticed that when Jesus tells us not to be afraid, something terrifying is about to happen? On one such occasion, Jesus told Paul that he would be safe because He (Jesus) had many people in that city. I found this interesting-- God would use His people to drive the fear from Paul and secure the work. This Sunday we will look at the role of God's people in protecting your peace of mind.

We prayed much for the homeless in this past week's extreme temperatures, and we praised God for great ministries like City Union Mission which provide a place of warmth and security for people without a home. As I think about this, it occurs to me that there is a spiritual equivalent. Jesus said we do not need to be troubled because His Father's house has a place for each of us-- without a place in the Father's House, we are filled with anxiety and insecurity. Sunday's message is the notification that your room is ready-- have you moved in?
