In the midst of the covid pandemic, we pause our study of the catechism questions to look at what anxiety is, and how Jesus offers us freedom from it.

God is righteously angry with sins and will punish them both in this life and in the life to come.

What is idolatry?

Sin is rebelling against God by rejecting or ignoring His law.

God gave us the law to keep before us our desperate need for a Savior.

Did God create us unable to keep the law? No, but because of the sin of Adam and Eve, we all are born sinful and guilty, unable to keep God's law.

No person is able to keep the law of God perfectly, but consistently breaks it in thoughts, words, and actions.

The 10th commandment - That we are content, not envying or resenting what God has given to them or to us.

The 9th commandment - Do not lie or deceive, but speak the truth in love. (Due to a technical issue, the video begins 10 minutes into the service)

The eighth commandment - God commands us not to take what does not belong to us, but instead to work hard and be good stewards so that we can be generous.

The 7th commandment - God calls us to rely on Him to live a life of sexual purity and faithfulness for our own good and for the good of others.

The 6th commandment - God requires us to not hurt, hate, or be hostile to others, but instead to pursue them with love.

The 5th Commandment - God requires us to honor our parents in all of the changing seasons of life.

The 4th Commandment - God requires us to take a day each week to rest and refocus on Him for our own good.

The third commandment requires us to speak to God and about God only in ways that honor and glorify Him.

The law of God requires that we perfectly and perpetually obey God by loving Him and loving others.

We glorify God when we focus on Him and let that focus transform our whole lives.

What else did God create?

God created us for His own glory. That truth should give us humility, purpose, and hope.
