Episodios

  • Ep. #73 - DOOM

    15/05/2016 Duración: 01h11min

2v1 is psyched for the release of the demon-bashing gorefest that is the Doom revival. Alex, Josh and Nick are pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fast-paced first person shooter action, the minor (but welcome) modernizations, as well as the depth of the new Snap Map creative mode. Nick and Josh were convinced to buy Overwatch, Alex is still incredulous about the disinterest in Fallout music, and the gang finally breaks down the Dark Souls 3 lore and secrets presented (spoilers at about 48:00). They also briefly talk about the recent closure of Lionhead studios. An excellent article about the studio's history and demise can be found at Eurogamer, http://bit.ly/1VUAyLa. • Ep. #72 - Shooty Shoot Games

    09/05/2016 Duración: 57min

First person shooters have dominated the gaming discourse lately. How many different ways can you point a gun at some polygons and keep it interesting? Overwatch enters open beta, the next Call of Duty looks like more of the same but is divisive for some reason, Battlefield 1 is the first game to be the "1st" this late in a series, Dark Souls 3 is still not a shooter and Hitman: Blood Money holds up 10 years later. • Ep. #71 - Non-game

    02/05/2016 Duración: 01h07min

What should we expect from a sequel? A vast improvement in gameplay? Higher resolution visuals? New mechanics? Maybe the next iteration in a series is just more of the same - but should we settle for that? This week, 2v1 spends some time with the Gears of War 4 beta, and Alex, Josh and Nick can confirm (quell all fears of newness?) - it is definitely a Gears of War game. Alex gets to level 50 in Fallout 3...or 4...the number is unclear. Nick discovers that Banner Saga 2 is Banner Saga and Josh experiences adversity in Dark Souls 3. Also discussed: NX release in March 2017 and the Zelda delay/split release, John Romero launches and cancels a Kickstarter, more confusion with the console market as E3 approaches. • Ep. #70 - NEO 4K

    24/04/2016 Duración: 01h10min

With the (un)confirmed leak of the Playstation NEO, the 2v1 crew discuss the relevance of mid-generation consoles and whether or not they're destined for failure. Also covered: Josh jumps into the Gears of War Beta, Nick starts Banner Saga 2, Alex condemns Amazon's new game Prime wall, and the necessary continuation of a Dark Souls III discussion. • Ep. #69 - Dark Souls III

    18/04/2016 Duración: 01h20min

2v1's most anticipated game of 2016, Dark Souls III, finally releases. Instead of diving right into arguments over gameplay feel, Alex, Josh and Nick briefly discuss the Battleborn open beta, updates to Halo 5 and Destiny, and the appropriate length of movies. The boys avoid any sort of spoilers for Dark Souls 3 by digging deep into the new weapon arts mechanic, whether or not one should play with a shield, the game's updated (and gorgeous) engine, and how playing with magic seems to be sidelined. • Ep #68 - Shockingly New

    11/04/2016 Duración: 01h08min

2v1 thought about doing something new this week - maybe mixing it up, keeping the listeners on their toes with something fresh. But Alex, Josh and Nick realized this might make the fans uncomfortable. Instead they chose to argue semantics again. Nick is still tackling Dirt Rally, Josh fails his comrades in State of Decay, Alex sits back with Wolf Among Us. Doom chooses to go the season pass route, Gears of War 4 is (probably) more of the same and Mass Effect: Andromeda can't come soon enough. • Ep. #67 - FFXV: Demon Session

    03/04/2016 Duración: 01h11min

The Platinum Demo has arrived, and the 2v1 crew have run into a bit of a crossroads over it. The same cannot be said for the Doom Beta though, as Nick, Josh, and Alex dive into id's newest offering. Nick also takes us through the pixelated world of Hyper Light Drifter, and why it's a must play for 2016. • Ep. #66 - Menu Management

    28/03/2016 Duración: 01h19min

Some final thoughts on Lords of the Fallen launch Nick and Josh into a discussion about stepping out of your comfort zone with games. Nick heads back to the wasteland in Fallout 4's Automatron DLC and wages war on America in Civilization V. Josh learns the value of pacing yourself while scavenging for supplies in State of Decay. • Ep. #65 - A New Grading Scale

    21/03/2016 Duración: 01h22min

Where were you 20 years ago - arguing whether SNES or Sega Genesis was the best? taking a stand against drugs? checking out the evolution of first person games with Quake while listening to "Return of the Mack" or possibly diving into the emerging black metal scene? This week 2v1 is still talking about the Souls series - but this time as a comparison with March's Xbox Gold title: Lords of the Fallen. Destiny makes a move against The Division, Playstation 4 is getting weird with Xbox One, Alex doesn't like power armor in Fallout 4 and we spoil Firewatch (49:00-1.01:00). • Ep. #64 - The Most Division

    13/03/2016 Duración: 01h06min

The launch of The Division has the 2v1 crew in a bit of a predicament. Is it worth our time? Is it an upgrade from Destiny? Will it leave a lasting impression? Where's the nearest Most24? Nick, Josh, and Alex also dive into reviews, lengthy games, and Nick shares his thoughts on South Park: TSoT. • Ep. #63 - Everything Is Getting Weird

    07/03/2016 Duración: 01h02min

This week 2v1 is joined by their friend, Caley, as they wildly speculate about Xbox's recent news concerning the Universal Windows Platform. Will Xbox One require hardware upgrades? Will Microsoft strong-arm PC developers? Should Xbox have made this announcement at all? 29/02/2016 Duración: 01h11min

Nick gets fabulous in Bayonetta 2, leading to a long discussion with Josh about the seemingly-disappearing hack and slash genre. Josh revisits Metro: 2033 and realizes his tastes in shooters (and games overall) has changed. Together they lament the current state of Platinum Games and the studio's future, appropriate game difficulty (again), Alex is missing and Devil Daggers is a surprise release. ROCKET LEAGUE! The 2v1 crew jump right into this weeks big Xbox One launch. Nick also throws out the critical question, "Do you always need to finish a game?" • Ep. #59 - Politics Are Not Video Games

    08/02/2016 Duración: 01h09min

Years ago, aliens invaded Earth, slaughtering millions and routing the world's strongest militaries. Today, our unfamiliar overlords rule with an iron fist under the guise of progress and friendship. An election looms in the near future - but who will you choose: the Panthers or the Broncos? A slower week allows 2v1 to dip into the non-video game world with talk of the coming US presidential election and the Super Bowl. Nick wraps up The Witness and loses soldiers in Xcom 2. Josh steals bodies in The Swapper. Alex is still playing Dark Souls 2 and once again, the Souls series is a topic of much discussion. Your family House is in shambles - loved ones lay in pools of blood as hundred-year-old rivalries come to a head. Tough choices are on the horizon, but first, the most pressing: do you or do you not grant a friend access to your Steam games library? This week the boys discuss obtuse friend request systems, episodic games (again) and dialogue choices. Josh can't wait for Rocket League, Nick double-crosses everyone in TellTale's Game of Thrones and Alex glimpses the hidden genius in MGSV: Phantom Pain.
