Another podcast, another slow news week. While there wasn't much happening over the past week, Sony has announced a State of Play for this Thursday that will show off Suicide Squad, indie and 3rd party reveals, and the debut of 5 new PSVR2 games. As has become customary with Nintendo, they announced a direct for the following day, and blessed us with a Direct that had something for everyone.  From Pikmin 4's release date, to Metroid Prime Remastered finally becoming a reality, and a new trailer for Tears of the Kingdom, this was a jam packed 40 minutes. E3 is returning this summer, but an IGN report last week has tampered expectations to say the least. According to the report, the big 3 of Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft will not be attending. The first big release of 2023 (sorry, Forspoken) has arrived in Dead Space. The game is already a critical success, with a somewhat surprising Metacritic score of 89, and many are saying it is a shining example of how remakes should be tackled. Neither of the guys played the original game 15 years ago, so they are here to give their thoughts on the game without any nostalgia attached. Metal Gear Solid remake rumors have been flying around over the past few years with nothing to show, so far. However, Quinton Flynn, mostly known for his portrayal of Raiden in various MGS games, has sent Kevin's brain into a tizzy with a couple of tweets that seem to be related to Metal Gear. Over the years, CES has lessened a great deal in importance when it comes to video games. This past week, however, Sony had a few big announcements at the show. PSVR2 is just a bit more than a month away, and the guys continue to be hyped for it's release. At CES, it was announced that Gran Turismo 7 is getting a free PSVR2 upgrade, prompting Kevin to take the leap and buy the game. Sony also revealed their first accessibility controller in Project Leonardo, something that is long overdue. For the first time in over a month, the boys are in the same room to record! They both talk through their cruise experiences over the past couple of weeks, before getting down to brass tacks. After a week off while Kevin was cruising around the Caribbean, we're back! James Soler guest stars with Kevin this week, as now Sean is cruising around the Caribbean. Even though we are all sick of talking about it, some interesting new news has surfaced related to the pending Activision acquisition by Microsoft. The FTC may be filing an anti-trust lawsuit, Sony says that Xbox wants to turn them into Nintendo, and that it could hurt devs and lead to price increases, Microsoft has reportedly offered Sony a 10 year deal on Call of Duty, and apparently Xbox and PlayStation don't plan for the new console generation to start until 2028. After many months of rumors and speculation, Sony finally revealed that the PSVR 2 will be releasing in February 2023 and will cost a whopping $550... Sean is still in day 1, but Kevin is starting to waver. After so many rumors over the past year or so, Konami finally pulled back the curtain and revealed that Silent Hill is coming back! (Still no Silent Hills tho...) Three new games, a Silent Hill movie reboot, as well as the much anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2 were all announced. The guys are excited, but Kevin (of course) is more excited for what this probably means for another Konami series that he is kinda fond of... Google Stadia is officially dead. It took a lot longer than most thought, but the streaming only service is dead as of January next year. To pour dirt on the grave, it was also revealed that Kojima had a planned Death Stranding follow-up planned for Stadia, that was canned by Phil Harrison. We also found out that the Splinter Cell Remake is supposedly changing the story to adapt to modern times. What could potentially be the biggest leak ever in gaming history, happened over the past week. Leaked footage of GTA 6 spread across the interwebs, and every social media platform you can imagine. This is horrible for Rockstar and Take 2, but outside of that, the guys agree it is pretty cool to see a game of this magnitude in the early stages of development (footage was apparently from 2019), and it has them both excited for the eventual release of the full game. Since E3 is essentially dead, there are some random weeks in September where you end up having 3 different online presentations of upcoming games. Nintendo held a much rumored Direct, PlayStation held a State of Play (instead of a Showcase like everyone hoped), and Ubisoft held their Ubisoft Forward event. Out of all of that we got a release date, and a name, for Breath of the Wild's sequel, an awesome look at God of War Ragnarok, a lot of Assassin's Creed, and a bunch of smaller games. One of the most controversial remakes/remasters/re-releases is finally out in the wild. The Last Of Us Part 1 is built from the ground up for PS5, but is it worth the full price of $70? The guys have both spent a few hours with it so far, and give their thoughts so far on this newest version of one of the best games ever made. Gamescom 2022 is in the books, with the biggest news coming from, of course, Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live stream. With a healthy mix of world premieres and new looks at already announced games, the show had something for everyone.
