  • Stories From God | The Two Debtors

    23/04/2022 Duración: 24min

When Jesus taught, he often spoke in parables – short stories which were intended to answer important questions that people asked Him: What is God really like? How are we meant to live? Why do we struggle in doing the right thing? What will life be like in the life to come? How is God at work in our world today? Through these parables Jesus sought to reveal the truths of the Kingdom of God and to teach us the meaning of life. At times, though, His stories seemed to bring more confusion than clarity. In this teaching series we will seek to understand Jesus’ teaching in the parables and also understand why He often seemed as comfortable raising questions as answering them.

In this teaching series we will walk through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus’ life, that we might understand the significance of Jesus suffering and death in a way we never have before. Whether you are a long-time follower of Jesus or simply curious about the story of Jesus’s crucifixion, join us as we retrace the final 24 hours of Jesus’ life.

  • Grappling With Scripture| Is the New Testament Trustworthy?

    29/01/2022 Duración: 45min

Some of the most beautiful verses in all of literature are found in the Bible. Millions upon millions look to it for inspiration and guidance. At the same time, some parts are confusing and others can even be disturbing. We understandably can be led to ask many questions about it, such as: “Did God really command military violence and genocide?”; “Are these God’s Words or those of mortals?”; “How do we make sense of Scripture in light of science?” For any who have ever had questions about the Bible, we want to frankly consider these and other challenging questions in this teaching series.   Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpoint Find Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/ Find Us on Facebook ►https://www.facebook.com/southviewchurch

Don't be like Jonah. Be courageous like Ruth. Be less like drifting like Samson. The reality, though, is that the primary purpose of the great Old Testament narratives is not to improve our morals, but to reveal the living God to us. The Old Testament features authoritative theological teaching, but often in the form of stories, thereby teaching in the form of real human experience. In this series, we will explore stories of laughter, bitterness, bravery, doubt and power. We’ll examine wayfinders and signposts along the way that point us toward God. And we'll foreshadow the coming of Jesus.
