The story of David and Goliath is often portrayed as the underdog winning the victory and an inspiration for us to go fight our battles. Yet this passage is meant to get us asking a different set of questions: Who are you living for? Whose name are you trying to build? And most importantly: What does it mean to be a person after God's own heart?

How did King David descend from being a man after God's own heart to committing adultery and murder?

Our hearts are restless until they rest in God. What we deeply yearn for is not to “live life to the full,” but to live fully for God.
