Can the Trojans get back on track with Utah coming to town?
18/10/2023 Duración: 01h16minIn this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio giving their analysis following USC's 48-20 loss to Notre Dame, looking at what went wrong and if the Trojans can get back on track with an important game against Utah coming up. Both Connor and Ryan were in South Bend for this debacle of a game that generated a wave of concern across the Trojan fan base that knows there are no breaks in this tough back half of the schedule for USC football. They give their thoughts on what they saw and heard and how much this suboptimal Trojan effort impacts their prognosis for the rest of the 2023 college football season. Head coach Lincoln Riley remains optimistic that this is a team that can turn things around, fix the issues and win the Pac-12 conference. The guys talk about what Riley had to say after the game, during his Trojans Live appearance and also after practice on Tuesday and if they agree with his assessment of this 6-1 USC football squad.

Coach Harvey Hyde calls USC's 48-20 loss to Notre Dame embarrassing and a difficult one to swallow for Trojan football fans
16/10/2023 Duración: 53minOn this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together discussing what turned out to be the largest margin of defeat for the Trojans during the Lincoln Riley era, a 48-20 beatdown at the hands of Notre Dame. A huge factor in the loss was the fact that USC turned the ball over five times, including a career high three interceptions for Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Caleb Williams, and surrendered a kickoff return for a touchdown. Coach Harvey Hyde talks about how this was an extremely difficult weekend for USC fans, seeing their team go down hard on a national stage in a historic rivalry with thousands of Trojans making the trip to South Bend. He also said it was embarrassing for fans to watch how this team played, getting dominated in all three phases but especially the offense and special teams units. It was a painful experience and there is no time for the team to lick its wounds with Utah coming into the Coliseum this weekend. The Coach talks about how the

Tunnel Vision: Trojans take one on the chin in South Bend against archrival Notre Dame
16/10/2023 Duración: 01h24minOn the latest edition of Tunnel Vision, USCFootball.com's Connor Morrissette, Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are in studio discussing what ultimately became a disastrous road trip for the Trojan football team over the weekend. USC fell 48-20 in a beatdown at the hands of arch rival Notre Dame. USC quarterback Caleb Williams had the worst game of his career throwing three first half interceptions, which all led to Notre Dame touchdowns. The Trojan defense took a step forward, but the unit was unable to bail out a bad night from USC's offense. The Trojans ultimately lost the turnover battle to the Fighting Irish 5-0. Can USC bounce back? Where do the Trojans go from here? This is a podcast version of our video show Tunnel Vision that you can find on our Facebook or YouTube pages. EMERGENCY PODCAST - USC's turnover frenzy leads to 48-20 loss at Notre Dame
15/10/2023 Duración: 50minIn this EMERGENCY edition of the Peristyle Podcast USCFootball.com's team of Ryan Abraham, Jack Smith, Connor Morrissette, Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino recorded their thoughts about USC's 48-20 loss at Notre Dame in the car on their drive back from South Bend to Chicago (at 2 in the morning). The guys take turns giving their thoughts on what went wrong as the Trojans turned the ball over five times to the Fighting Irish's zero, allowed six sacks and 11 tackles for loss while only generating one TFL and no sacks and the backbreaker, giving up a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that put any chance of a late comeback out of reach. They also discuss what head coach Lincoln Riley and quarterback Caleb Williams had to say after the disappointing loss, the only two players or coaches that spoke to the media after the game. As this was literally recorded in the car driving in the middle of the night, we apologize if the audio quality isn't as high as our usually shows recorded in studio. Please review, r

Tunnel Vision: Previewing USC's Midwest road trip to South Bend to take on Notre Dame
13/10/2023 Duración: 01h16minOn this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Jack Smith, Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka Triple-Double) are back in studio to preview what will be No. 10 USC's toughest test to date, a road trip to South Bend to take on No. 21 Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are playing their fourth ranked team in a row, going 1-2 over that stretch, and desperately need a win against USC to get their season back on track. The Trojans are a perfect 6-0 but the play on the field has been far less than perfect, so a win against a ranked opponent would go a long way to quieting the critics (at least partially). The guys talk about everything they saw and heard from USC practice and media availability this week which featured a lot of talk about the state of the Trojan defense plus injury status for freshman wide receiver Zachariah Branch and the overall health of the cornerback position. All three hosts are heading to Chicago on Friday for this one and they give their thoughts on how they think the game will

The great debate about the USC defense heading into the Notre Dame game
11/10/2023 Duración: 01h31minIn this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio discussing the hottest topic surrounding the Trojan football team, the performance of the USC defense at the halfway point of the season. From the outside many of the same issues this defense had last year appear to still be there, breakdowns in coverages, poor tackling and the inability to get stops late in games. But hearing from Lincoln Riley and players and coaches, their view is the defense is much improved over last season. Ryan and Connor give their thoughts on how the defense is trending after six games as USC is now heading into its most important and difficult stretch of the season. They also give an injury update including wide receiver Zachariah Branch as well as cornerbacks Domani Jackson and Christian Roland-Wallace. USC head coach Lincoln Riley told reporters that Branch and Roland-Wallace weren't full participants but Jackson was. The guys also look ahead to the biggest g

Helium Boys: USC is 6-0 after 3OT win, but are the Trojans progressing each week?
10/10/2023 Duración: 02h02minShotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino return with the Helium Boys Podcast following a wild 3OT battle between USC and Arizona. The Helium Boys react to the Trojans' 43-41 triple overtime win over the Wildcats where a slow start and continued flaws nearly cost USC its pristine record and likely would have if Superman Caleb Williams didn't put the team on his back. Shotgun and Chris discuss the notable takeaways, including who is to blame and what needs to be fixed to get USC heading in the right direction after three subpar performances in a row. They open with the 'Two-Minute Drill' giving their initial reactions to the Trojans' late-night victory in the Coliseum. The duo then breaks down the hold-your-breath and hold-your-beer moments with Stock Up/Stock Down, discussing who impressed, including the Heisman Trophy winner making a push for No. 2 by using his legs and a handful of defenders that stood out. The Helium Boys also look into what stocks took a hit over the weekend such as the physicality in the trenc

Coach Harvey Hyde thinks USC has too much talent for that type of performance against Arizona
09/10/2023 Duración: 01h11minOn this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together discussing another clunker of a game for the Trojans, this time a 43-41 triple overtime victory over unranked Arizona at home in the Coliseum. Coach Hyde, as usual, has some strong opinions on how this USC football team performed late Saturday night against the Wildcats. Early in the game when the offense wasn't clicking and wide receivers were not getting open, he wanted to see head coach Lincoln Riley start using the backs and tight ends in the passing game. Coach Hyde also wanted to see the Trojans commit to the run game with Arizona dropping more defenders back into coverage. On the defensive side of the ball Coach Hyde thinks there are still too many rotations going on and he wants to see fewer players coming in and out of the game. He was also concerned that backup quarterback Noah Fifita had so much success against this USC defense, to the tune of 302 yards and five passing touchdowns. In general Coach

Tunnel Vision: Trojans somehow survive in triple overtime against the Wildcats
09/10/2023 Duración: 01h30minOn this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Jack Smith, Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are in studio discussing one of the wildest USC football games in recent memory, a 43-41 triple overtime victory over Arizona late Saturday night in the Coliseum. Right out of the gate, the Trojans looked out of sorts from the jump on offense, defense and special teams including three-straight 3-and-outs for Caleb Williams and the offense and three-straight scores allowed by the defense. USC, which hadn't trailed at all through the first five games, was down 17-0 early in the second quarter with the game on the verge of being out of hand. When the offense finally started to get on track with a huge pass to Brenden Rice, momentum shifted once again when Williams fumbled on the next play. Jacobe Covington made the play of the day with his interception, giving USC life and more importantly a short field. Williams was able to cut the deficit to a field goal at halftime, keeping the game from getting out of hand. T

More questions than answers about USC's defense heading into the Arizona game
04/10/2023 Duración: 01h25minIn this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette are back in studio talking about how the Trojans are undefeated and scoring 40+ points a game, but still have major questions on the defensive side of the ball. After coming out of the game early in the San Jose State, Nevada and Stanford games, quarterback Caleb Williams has had to play until the final whistle on the road at ASU and Colorado because the USC defense hasn't been able to get stops late in the game. We've heard from head coach Lincoln Riley and defensive coordinator Alex Grinch following Tuesday's practice and both coaches addressed the Trojans defensive issues in the second half in Boulder. The guys talk about what the Riley, Grinch and the defensive players had to say about the shortcomings of the defense and the challenges they will face against an very potent Arizona offense. Riley said the focus this week has been on two fronts, tackling better on the perimeter and keeping the quarterback in the pocket. They

Helium Boys: USC survives Colorado and quicksand for 5-0 start
03/10/2023 Duración: 02h05minThe Helium Boys Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino back behind the microphones to react to USC surviving their final trip to the mountains of Boulder, Colo. and the quicksand that nearly consumed the Trojans in the second half of a 48-41 win over the Buffaloes. The duo discuss the notable takeaways, including who is to blame and what needs to be fixed to get USC back on track. Shotgun and Chris open with the 'Two-Minute Drill' giving their initial reactions to the Trojans' win at Colorado, including Chris' take on the atmosphere for the 10 a.m. local kickoff. The duo then breaks down the hold-your-breath victory with Stock Up/Stock Down, discussing who impressed, including the Caleb Williams to Brenden Rice connection and the potential of kissing Heismans as well as multiple USC defenders that showed out despite the foibles of the defense as a whole. The Helium Boys also look into what stocks took a hit over the weekend such as the Trojans' "the longer it goes, the better we get" motto t

Tunnel Vision: After giving up 41 points to Colorado, there is no defense for this Trojan defense
02/10/2023 Duración: 01h22minOn this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Jack Smith and Connor Morrissette (aka Triple-Double) are back in studio breaking down the Trojans near collapse in Boulder, a 48-41 win over Colorado where USC's 27 point lead got wiped away by Shedeur Sanders and the Buffaloes offense. The USC defense actually looked good early on in the game, limiting most of Sanders' passes to underneath routes and forcing the Buffs to methodically move the chains. But towards the end of the first half Sanders orchestrated another slow and effective drive that was capped it off with his 25-yard touchdown run up the middle, making the score a much more respectable 34-14 at halftime and giving Colorado some desperately needed momentum. The Trojans struck first in the second half and at 41-14 halfway through the third quarter the game seemed out of reach, but Colorado scored touchdowns on 4 of its last 5 possessions and USC failed to score in the fourth quarter. What should have been a blowout ended up b

Coach Harvey Hyde wants to see Lincoln Riley get more involved in USC's defense
01/10/2023 Duración: 01h14minOn this episode of the Peristyle Podcasts hosts Ryan Abraham and Coach Harvey Hyde are back together discussing the near epic collapse in Boulder where the Trojans had a 41-14 lead and had to hold on and recover an onsides kick to escape with a 48-41 victory. Ryan was at Folsom Field for the game and the 100 year old stadium had some issues trying to accommodate the over 1,000 media requests, the most for a game in CU history. The Coach Prime effect is real and while the Buffaloes media relations people tried their best, the program grew too much and too fast to handle the wave of publicity that Deion Sanders brought to Boulder. The game itself was unsatisfying for everyone, USC fans were upset that the defense failed to slow down Colorado late in the game and Buffs fans saw a chance for victory fall just short. Coach Hyde talks about how winning is the most important thing, but you want to be able to be proud of your performance and it would be hard to do that after this game. Both Coach and Ryan got Cotto

Tunnel Vision: Previewing USC's highly anticipated trip to Boulder to face Coach Prime and Colorado
29/09/2023 Duración: 01h23minOn this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Jack Smith and Connor Morrissette (aka Triple-Double) are back in studio and ready to preview one of the more highly anticipated games of the young 2023 college football season, a road trip to Boulder where Lincoln Riley, Caleb Williams and the 4-0 No. 8 ranked USC Trojans will face Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders and the 3-1 Colorado Buffaloes. USC is coming off a sloppy 14-point win over Arizona State in Tempe and Colorado is trying to bounce back from an unsuccessful trip to Eugene where the Ducks had their way with the Buffs. The guys will give their thoughts on this game, including the extremely early 9 a.m. PST kickoff time, Big Noon Kickoff pregame show being there and the media circus that surrounds the most talked about figure in college football, Coach Prime. On paper USC's strengths line up pretty well with Colorado's weaknesses, specifically the Trojans can run the ball well where the Buffaloes have a hard to stopping the run p

Should USC football fans be concerned heading into Boulder?
27/09/2023 Duración: 01h16minIn this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and new USCFootball.com senior staff writer Connor Morrissette are in studio LIVE breaking down the state of the Trojan football program following a less than impressive 42-28 victory over a struggling Arizona State squad in Tempe. Should USC football fans be concerned with a road trip to Boulder to take on one of the most talked about college football programs in the country, the Colorado Buffaloes? Connor and Ryan give their thoughts on what they liked from the Trojans effort in the desert and what gives cause for concern. An "off" day for Caleb Williams still produced five touchdowns and the much maligned defense still generated eight sacks and 14 tackles for loss. The guys talk about all of that plus player rotation, special teams highs and lows, the overall health of the team, playing on the road in back-to-back weeks, the early kickoff time with the Big Noon Kickoff pregame on hand and of course they preview what they expect to see from Coach P
