For the first time this season the Trojans didn't have the game securely in hand by the third quarter and had to scratch and claw with a Sun Devils squad that was struggling coming into Saturday night. Quarterback Caleb Williams accounted for all five USC touchdowns, three through the air and two on the ground, and receiver Brenden Rice finished with 7 catches for 133 yards and two TDs. Former Sun Devil Eric Gentry led the Trojans with 9 tackles and the USC defense, while struggling at times, did account for 8 quarterback sacks and 14 tackles for loss. The Trojans scored early and often and built up a 49-3 halftime lead that included seven different Trojans finding the end zone and over 400 yards of offense. With the backups in for the third and fourth quarters USC cruised to a demonstrative 56-10 victory over the Cardinal. Stanford was USC's longest running series and with the Trojans off to the Big Ten next season and the Cardinal heading to the ACC, Saturday night's matchup will likely be the last time these two programs play for years to come.
