  • Revive What? | Discussion with S.J. Hill & Dr. Stephen R. Crosby

    30/04/2012 Duración: 56min

This week we ask the question "revive what?".  What is revival and what is being revived?  We cut through the buzz words and discuss what this is and what it looks like in the Scriptures. We get into asking these questions from the get go and dive into 'outpouring' versus discipleship.   If a real outpouring happened, would we be ready?  Would we even really want it?  What if God actually answered our romanticized prayers for a revival?  Would we be ready for it? Join us this week as Steve Bremner has a sacred cow barbecue with a couple of insightful authors:  SJ Hill, international speaker and author of Enjoying God and previous recurring guest on the podcast, along with Dr Stephen R. Crosby, author of Revising Revival. • What is a Missional Community?

    02/04/2012 Duración: 54min

Join us this week for our podcast discussion with Mark Burgess, and Shaun Wissmann, both missionaries and serving in missional community in Chorrillos, Peru. We shoot the breeze and discuss the differences between missional community and house churches. Is it just an alternative to “big churches?”  What is a community on mission together?  When the writer of Hebrews talks about not forsaking gathering together, is this referring to attending a weekly service, or something more profoundly missed in our modern context? Mark and Shaun also brought up some very interesting points in this discussion, about how there is no ‘magic silver bullet‘ to community, but it takes lots of time and hard work.  Are you willing to put in the commitment and sacrifice?  In launching missional communities, or in planting house churches, by and large, are we going to the pattern of Scripture for our foundation, or looking at the culture around us and mixing it in with our desires and preferences for what an MC is supposed to look l

  • Accountability and Spiritual Covering–-Are They Biblical? | Discussion with S.J. Hill & Dr. Stephen R. Crosby

    20/03/2012 Duración: 59min

Have you ever been told you’re in rebellion if you don’t obey your leaders?   Have you ever been taught spiritual authority, that emphasized complicity with leaders for complicity’s sake alone because, “they’re above you?”   Or, have you ever been told you need to be “under a spiritual covering” or curses from God will fall on you?   If so, then have we got quite a discussion for you today. Join us this week as Steve Bremner has a sacred cow barbecue with a couple of insightful authors:   SJ Hill, international speaker and author of Enjoying God and previous recurring guest on the podcast, along with Dr Stephen R. Crosby, author of Authority, Accountability and the Apostolic Movement. We tackle this stuff today: Do we base our idea of accountability on the Bible, or businesses or even the military?   Is accountability enforced or lived out by signing documents?   Does the Bible really teach pastors or leaders are superior in any way to the rest of the Body of Christ?   Related Links: Visit www.sjhillonline.co

  • What Does “Church Discipline” Look Like?

    13/03/2012 Duración: 58min

We’re finally back for our first podcast together in several months.  Join Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner as they discuss Matthew 18, and what Scripture says regarding how to deal with a fellow brother and excommunication.   Why is the Church viewed as those who shoot their wounded rather than helping restore one another who are caught in a trespass? With all the much ado being made about a certain large mega church having made members sign documents for ‘discipline’ in the name of adherence to Matthew 18, and all the opinion being spouted online in blogs and some news articles about the subject matter, we thought we’d give our two cents worth and spend time interpreted the whole of the chapter of Matthew 18 for context and ask if people properly apply the principles laid out in this chapter of the Gospels. • Prophetic Vision & Today’s Technology

    14/10/2011 Duración: 56min

The ceilings of one generation become the floor the next generation stands on. Do you know the purpose of your generation?  According to several surveys and studies, the current generation in America under the age of 30 outnumbers the Baby Boomer generation, and these are the ones who are going to be tomorrow’s leaders, innovators, politicians, and…..church leaders.  But yet only 1 in 20 consider themselves spiritual or Christian. Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss a bit of what living in a post Christian culture is starting to look like. We also, primarily talk today about this current generation, as well as continue where we left off last week and talk about the messes of the gift of prophecy, and have safe environments to grow in the prophetic. How do we deal with conflicting prophetic words from well-known credible men of God and church leaders, not the least of which includes dealing with when prophetic words never come to pass and they remove their prophecies from YouTube or their webpages? How can

  • Prophetic Activation

    30/09/2011 Duración: 52min

Do we really understand what it means to have the mind of Christ?     The attached photo credit for this episode is from the movie Johny Nmeumonic, and it was about a man who carried important ‘downloads’ in his mind.  But in order to carry it all, he had to erase part of his permanent memory.   In the Christian’s case, we have the mind of Christ and don’t need to erase anything.  But does that mean the instant we’re born again we suddenly know every thing?  Of course not.  We have access to all things through Christ (see Romans 5:2, and 1 Corinthians 2:9-16).   Join Steve Bremner and Dave Edwards this week in our first of two discussions regarding activating the prophetic in our lives and accessing the mind of Christ and learning to hear his voice more clearly in day to day circumstances.   Further Reading   The Prophetic Life, &   Eyes of Imagination by Dave Edwards   What is The Word of God?

  • Does God Have a “Plan B” For Your Life? | Discussion with Stephen Best

    22/09/2011 Duración: 59min

This week we’re privileged to have on the podcast Stephen Best, pastor of River Run Fellowship in Peterborough, Ontario, for a discussion regarding finding and fufilling your purpose in God. It was very refreshing, and we discuss some sacred cows, such as; Are there such things as ‘divine appointments’? Does God have a pre-arranged soulmate for each one of us? Can we know whether we’re in God’s permissive will or His perfect will? Or do such distinctions even exist in the God journey? This was definitely a fascinating discussion for me as we touched on some sacred cows. • Do You Bring Heaven To Earth?

    08/09/2011 Duración: 49min

Join us again this week as Jeremy Connor, Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss the kingdom of God–or at least try to, as this is probably going to come up again in the near future but we start off with a good discussion. Questions that came up and may or may not have gotten answered: What is the kingdom of God? Is it linear through out all of history, or is its full manifestation future tense only?  Do you bring heaven to earth with your words, and actions?  Do you live a supernatural lifestyle? What was an apostle in the Bible?  Do we represent them accurately when we name people ‘apostles’ today? This was the conclusion or the follow up to last week’s discussion. • Do You Walk In His Presence?

    01/09/2011 Duración: 54min

Presence removes the need for argument. Revival is a bi-product of His presence. Join us this week as we go in a completely different direction from last week’s discussion and cover the presence of God. This week we talk with Jeremy Connor, a friend of Dave Edwards’ and teacher at Bethel Life in their home church. We had a lot of fun yet covered some deep stuff as well, and ask challenging questions like: Do you value a book or do you value HIM? Is being ‘desperate’ for God or “spiritually hungry” actually a good thing, or a sign of maturity? Is it really that easy to quench or grieve the Holy Spirit? • Who Goes To Hell? | Interview with Joel Crumpton

    25/08/2011 Duración: 59min

Does hell really exist?  Of course it does, and that's not what we talk about today on the podcast, but rather who goes there and how to know if you're one of them, and what to do about it. We post this rather urgent discussion about eternity and eternal matters, because in a current season when many people are talking about hell, it seems most are just watering it down or re-writing Scripture. So, that's why today on the podcast, Joel Crumpton shares his thoughts with Steve Bremner concerning this important and sobering subject, as well as his expertise in soul winning on the streets for over 27 years. Joel shares powerful testimonies of God using him, and encourages you to share your faith with others. Do you know for certain where you'll go? If you are sitting on the fence, give this a listen and examine yourself. • Are Natural Disasters Judgments From God? | Discussion with S.J. Hill & David Edwards

    26/07/2011 Duración: 56min

Join us this week as we finally have back on the show author and international speaker S.J. Hill. He joins Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner as we talk about judgment. We tried to discuss and answer some of the following questions: Does God really send disasters and calamities to cities and nations in order to teach its people lessons? If so, does it work? Does a ‘rapture mentality’ produce a people interested in what happens in the earth during their generation? Does the Church have way too pessimistic of an outlook when it comes to God’s involvement in the earth today? Does the Church embrace too much fatalism when it comes to dealing with every day events and natural disasters as they happen around the world? How Is The Church specifically, and the culture in general, supposed to deal with ‘doom and gloom prophets whose ‘prophecies’ don’t come to pass? No, we’re not talking about fringe groups but ones who are more mainstream and accepted in both evangelical and charismatic circles.   And don’t forget to visi

  • How To Receive From God | Discussion with Brian Parkman and Joel Crumpton

    08/07/2011 Duración: 56min

This week we’ve got on Fire On Your Head two previous guests, together on the same show. Too much podcast for one podcast, if you ask me. Join us as FIRE School of Ministry teacher Brian Parkman, Joel Crumpton and Steve Bremner discuss some issues related to faith, healing, and receiving from God, and how we have the sure written word of faith and don’t need special “rhema words” from God about every decision we make. Joel and Brian both share things they claim took them over twenty years to learn that they wish they knew earlier. What are those things? Listen to find out. • Discipleship -- Getting Back To The Basics

    30/06/2011 Duración: 57min

Join us again as I (Steve) talk with missionary Mark Burgess about the necessity of discipleship, but also the practicalities.  An important point that seemed to be emphasized is that you influence and teach people in your area of influence, and should not exclude yourself from straightforward commands of Jesus Christ just because you’re not a “clergy member” or pastor. We are ALL called to make disciples! Is the church service the most important thing a pastor should be focused on? What about his or her sermon? Did Jesus teach his disciples they must have a splashy web page on the internet? How does accountability fit into the role of being discipled and making disciples? Is it possible to be discipled by the pastor of a large mega church through media such as internet and books? Listen and be challenged as we discuss these and other points that came up in the discussion.  If you have not had a chance yet, you should take the time to listen to the previous podcast, Are You Making Disciples? I did with Mark,

  • It Is Finished! | Discussion with Brian Parkman and David Edwards

    03/06/2011 Duración: 50min

Join us this week as Brian Parkman, Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner discuss who we are in Christ, and just what kinds of things were accomplished at the cross that are now ours to walk out. You might want to listen to this one over a few times, as we cover lots of good points and Scriptures, and seek to help each other understand we don't need to twist God's arm in prayer to do certain things. You will find this to be a very refreshing conversation. Enjoy!

  • Are You Making Disciples?

    27/05/2011 Duración: 52min

This week we change gears again and interview Mark Burgess. Mark and his wife Anna and kids have been living in Peru for a few years now, and currently are responsible for upwards of 70 people actively being discipled in their cell churches in Chorillos, located on the Pacific coast of Peru. We talk about what it is to be making disciples and building missional communities, and why the Great Commission is not just a call to make converts, but disciples. Are you multiplying yourself into other people? What about those who you call ‘disciples’? Are you actually discipling others or keeping them at a distance, teaching them with words or studies, but unwilling to allow them access to you? • What Is The Purpose Of Speaking In Tongues? | Discussion with Brian Parkman

    25/04/2011 Duración: 52min

This week we continue our discussion on speaking in tongues, this time with returning guest Brian Parkman. Brian's a teacher at the FIRE School of Ministry, specializing in this very topic. This week we cover the purpose of speaking and praying in tongues, and why you don't want to miss out on this as just "one" of many Spiritual gifts. We also discuss the nature of personal edification and corporate prophesying. Join us and subscribe, as this is the first half of our interview/discussion with Brian, to be concluded next week. • Is Speaking in Tongues The Initial Evidence of Spirit Baptism?

    27/03/2011 Duración: 52min

This week Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner try to cover the subject of speaking in tongues, but this time from the angle of asking specifically if speaking in tongues the initial evidence of Spirit Baptism?  Steve says yes, pretty much always, while Dave says almost always, and take it from there basically and politely sort through our differences in a way that hopefully you will enjoy. We cover the usual passages this topic elicits, and look today in depth at Acts chapters 2, 8, 10, 15, and 19 mostly and had little time for much else, so it might be a topic we revisit in the near future, and spend a little bit of time in 1 Corinthians 14. What does “do all speak in tongues” mentioned in passing in 1 Cor 12:30 refer to? Are all tongues created equal? Does the Bible really say that one needs an interpreter every time they speak in tongues?

  • Keeping Ourselves From Idols

    17/03/2011 Duración: 46min

This week Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner sit down to talk about something burning in our hearts, but wind up having a spontaneous discussion on idolatry, and what that looks like in our society culture. Do you have anything you're setting up in your life "beside" or "near" the altar of God that is taking up your focus and time, in actuality AWAY from God? Do you have any seemingly holy and right ingredients you're adding TO the Gospel's power in your life, that are actually evil and subverting the role of the Holy Spirit in your life? If you aren't sure, and want to know how you can discern your spiritual condition, listen to this discussion and get challenged and encouraged. • Created To Be Great

    03/03/2011 Duración: 57min

Join us for the latest episode where Dave Edwards and Steve Bremner continue discussing the supernatural, and God’s greatness. Do you know how great you were destined to be? Once you become a believer, is your heart still ‘deceitfully wicked’ in God’s eyes? Also, we discuss some feedback we’ve received and follow up on some years’ old podcasts that we felt needed to be addressed in light of developments since that time. What are we referring to? Listen and find out! Check out the article Dave refers to in the discussion: Eyes of Imagination.
