  • Money Stories - Dave Bartlett

    20/11/2016 Duración: 29min

Each of us has in our heart and head our story of money. Jesus told many stories about money. Because of its importance in our lives, money was one of his most taught topics. As our teachers disclose their own evolving stories about money they will also focus upon some of the stories Jesus had to tell. The goal of this series is that many of us would re-examine our own stories of money and maybe bring our stories more in alignment with the message of Jesus. Jesus said in John 10: 10, “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.” A part of this “life to the full” that Jesus wants for us is an accurate story of our money because our story of money affects almost every part of our lives.

In today’s broken world - many things threaten to hold us captive and keep us from living an abundant life of faith. God can sometimes seem distant or absent. In the Old Testament book of Daniel, we read about a young man of faith who was held hostage for 70 years in an evil empire that seemed completely devoid of God. His story encourages us and demonstrates how choosing trust, faith, humility, wisdom, and hope can help us not just survive, but thrive in a broken world. • The Risk to Belong: It’s About the Kingdom! - Brian Steenhoek

    25/09/2016 Duración: 27min

We were created to belong to God and to other people. If we miss this, we miss everything. The need to belong, to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, is hardwired into the human DNA. Where does this desire come from? We believe it comes from the truth that we were created by a God who is at his core, a community - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We were created out of community for community. Our deep need to belong displays this truth. God is at work to create for himself a community through whom he can bless a broken world; that community is his church; God’s people.. We will live in community with God - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - and with each other, for all eternity. Belonging is our destiny! But in our individualistic and noisy world, true community is hard to find. The truth is, we must initiate it; it will rarely just happen. As followers of Jesus, we must seek community as a primary calling of our faith. But not just any old “community,” it must be community in the way of Jesus, which me

    21/08/2016 Duración: 28min

For many, the lack of appropriate fuel is their downfall. True in a marathon. True in the Christian life. The beginning of the journey of following Jesus is full of energy and excitement. But how do we keep going? How do we finish the race God has marked out for us? Jesus gives his followers the race plan, the way he wants us to run this race we call life. Some of Jesus’ most powerful and demanding instruction about how he wants us to run. We call it the Sermon on the Mount. And it begins with Jesus providing us the only fuel that can keep us running - the whole race - with power and joy. And that fuel is grace. The grace of Jesus… It’s not just for the start It’s not just for the final push to the finish The grace of Jesus is the only energy source powerful enough to propel us through the beginning, middle, and end of our journey. Only Jesus’ grace can help us
