When Jesus said "Follow Me" to the disciples, they didn't envision following Jesus to the ends of the earth. Thomas to the West Indies, Mark to Alexandria, and Barnabas to Cyprus. But why...well Apostle Paul shared with the Galatians that as I'm in Christ I must preach to the gentiles. Well then, all those who are in Christ (believers) do we preach the gospel let alone willing to go the ends of the earth. In our last sermon of the "Follow Me" series, I want to share with you all that one key ingredient that made Paul and others set apart. The willingness to share with the gentiles and with the rest of the unreached world. That one key ingredient is "Compassion of Jesus Christ!"

You care about making disciples of the entire world. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." You seek to witness to those around us about Jesus. You help other believers in their faith

Prayer takes us on a journey of honest petition to peaceful surrender. Prayer can't take us any where if we can't give up control.

Story: American Express had a commercial that had the slogan "Don't leave home without it." Intimating that the benefits of that card would come in handy wherever you went. When we look at prayer, do we have that same attitude and appreciation? Why or why not? Like credit cards, prayer has its rewards or perks. So don't leave home without it. What prayer gives: God's perspective (see the world through His eyes), God's power (strength when we are weak), His presence (spiritual reality while here on earth) Takeaway idea: Prayer has its perks, so don't live life without it.

Perspective

What prayer requires: grace, fear, helplessness. When we come to God we do not come as pagans of performance but as children of grace. A genuine prayer requires that we fully understand that God is "Our Father."
