So how can we change this? From Ecclesiastes 2:18-26, 4 Stop and Think Moments: 1. No matter how hard you work for earthly rewards, you can’t take it with you when you die! (v.18, 21) Jesus warns us in Parable of Rich Fool. (Luke 12:15-21) Jesus gives us new way of thinking. (Matthew 6:19-21) 2. Stressing about work does no good. (v.23) Don’t worry! Be happy, because God has you covered. (Matthew 6:31-34) 3. Can’t truly enjoy life unless you enjoy God. (v.24-25) Joy comes from God! (John 15:11, Romans 14:17) 4. Conclusion: Pleasing yourself is a dead end! Pleasing God has eternal reward! (v.26) How to be good in the eyes of God? Only through Jesus! “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.ȁ

Today we are going through a passage written to the church in Corinth that was going through some problems. First I will Read the passage and then you tell me if you have a sense of what the problem or problems might be, okay?. 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;[b] 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Ok, did you catch the problem that the church was having? Let me put it like this. From verses 4 to 7 you have a poem about love. The romantic people call it a poem. The geeky people call in a definition. If you look at the outline you know which one we are. Just kidding. 15 definitions of love. Notice the first two are positive. Notice the last four are positive. And right in the middle, right in between are 9 definitions of love that are

Model for Community of Believers: “All who believed were together...Attending temple together and breaking bread in their homes.” (Acts 2:44, 46) The Solution: “Life change happens best in small groups.” Change =>growth = good No growth = stagnation => death The Problem: “I don’t need another thing to do in my busy life.” “Even if I had time, the groups are just too far.” “Plus I’m not comfortable with other people (introverted).” Myths: More time = more belonging More proximity = more belonging More personality = more belonging Essentials (From John 21:1-14): 1. Living life together. (v.2-3) “[The disciples] were together.” 2. Growing in Jesus Christ together. (v.12-13) “Iron sharpens iron.” (Proverbs 27:17)

    05/05/2019 Duración: 40min

When Church Feels More Like a Social Club… May 5 message Today I have an important update to give you, and I’d like to clothe it in this message, so here goes: Jogging I would like to share with you one of my newfound hobbies. For the past year I have really enjoyed something that as a younger man I hated, and never could understand other people enjoying. Crazy thing is that now I get it, and I love it. I’m talking about jogging. Any runners in the room? I can’t explain the love of jogging, I can’t explain it better than just to say that joggers are strange people who love pain. I started off running 1 mile. And today 10 months later after steady incremental growth I am now jogging (pause) 1.2 miles. (I’m kidding) Just a little more, 3.6. Definitely nothing to brag about. But it goes like this the 1st mile, I have my headphones on, My head is up, nice steady pace, I am listening to a podcast and Itȁ
