On December 17, 2020, the Economic Club of Minnesota partnered with Major Garrett, CBS News' Chief Washington Correspondent and host of "The Takeout," a weekly multi-platform interview show on politics, policy and pop culture available on CBSN, top radio stations across the country, and all podcast platforms. Garrett moderated a post-election discussion with Senator Amy Klobuchar and Congressman Tom Emmer. The conversation was lively and kept our several hundred attendees engaged!

It was our honor to host Antony Phillipson, Her Majesty’s Trade Minister for North America on October 5, 2020. Mr. Phillipson addressed the club from his location in New York City. Hundreds of sponsors, members, and guests joined us virtually. Mr. Phillipson talked about how we address the overarching crisis we are experiencing due to COVID-19, but also how each of our governments have responded to help recover from the economic crunch. We heard about how the UK is planning to build back better by shoring up supply chain. A highlight was the audience Q&A. Tim Penny, Economic Club Founder and Vice Chair moderated. Mr. Phillipson addressed questions surrounding Free Trade Agreement, climate, and BREXIT, as well as the close ties the UK has with businesses in the state of Minnesota.

Kevin Hassett is currently Vice President and Managing Director of the Lindsey Group, a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution and a CNN Economics Commentator. In June 2019, he left the White House where he served as the 29th Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.  Kevin previously served as research director at the American Enterprise Institute, as a senior economist at the Federal Reserve, and as a faculty member at Columbia University. Hassett was a senior adviser on Mitt Romney’s 2012 campaign, and prior to that served as John McCain’s chief economic adviser in the 2000 presidential primaries and an economic adviser to the campaigns of George W. Robert D. Cabana is a former NASA astronaut, currently serving as director of NASA's John F. Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In his current role, Cabana manages all NASA facilities and activities at the spaceport, including the team of civil service and contractor employees who operate and support numerous space programs and projects. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cabana graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps and completed Naval Flight Officer training in Pensacola in 1972. Cabana then served as an A-6 bombardier/navigator with Marine Air Wings in Cherry Point, North Carolina, and Iwakuni, Japan. As CEO and president of the Kansas City Fed, George leads a workforce of more than 1,900 employees located at the Bank’s Kansas City office and Branch offices in Denver, Oklahoma City and Omaha. Ron Dermer was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida. He earned a degree in Finance and Management from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University. For three years, he was a columnist for the Jerusalem Post. In 2004, Ron co-authored with Natan Sharansky the best-selling book, The Case For Democracy: The Power of Freedom to Overcome Tyranny and Terror, which has been translated into ten languages. From 2005-2008, Ron served as Israel's Minister of Economic Affairs in the United States. From 2009-2013, he served as Senior Advisor to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
