There have been 8 teams to go 7-0 since the 2010 season: 2011 Green Bay Packers, 2012 Atlanta Falcons, 2013 Kansas City Chiefs, 2015 Denver Broncos, 2015 Carolina Panthers, 2015 New England Patriots, 2015 Cincinnati Bengals, and 2018 Los Angeles Rams. 2015 was a crazy year. The 2019 New England Patriots are looking to be the 9th team to accomplish that feat this decade. Looking bigger picture, there have only been 6 teams in the Super Bowl era to post a better point differential through 7 games than the +142 point different the Patriots have through 6 games. Two of those teams (1991 Washington and 1999 St. Louis Rams) won the Super Bowl, and another three lost the Super Bowl (1967 Oakland Raiders, 2006 Chicago Bears, 2007 New England Patriots). The sixth team (1966 Dallas Cowboys) lost in the NFL Championship game to the Green Bay Packers, who went on to win the Super Bowl. The New England Patriots moved to 6-0 with a Thursday Night victory over the New York Giants and it's not too early to turn focus towards the playoffs. The Kansas City Chiefs, the presumed top contender to the Patriots in the AFC, were defeated at home by the Houston Texans, who probably should be considered the top contender...right? Which teams in the AFC playoff picture are actually any good? The New England Patriots dominated Washington on Sunday to move to 5-0, the last remaining undefeated team in the AFC. After watching the Kansas City Chiefs fall to the Indianapolis Colts, and the Houston Texans crush the Atlanta Falcons, who are the real power players in the conference? Is it a three-team race? Focusing on the game itself, the Patriots defense continued to play at its otherworldly level, as one of the best defenses of the past 30 years. The defensive unit has only allowed 20 points all year, tied for the fewest in NFL history, so that's pretty good. On the other side of the ball, there are some concerns, even after putting up 33 points. The offensive line is iffy. The running game is inconsistent.
