Steve from Retro Man Blog talks to Thomas and David from one of Sweden's best psychedelic-garage-space-rock bands, "The Movements". Thomas and David take us on a trip through the band's story which includes chapters as diverse as writing a theme song for a German football team, to being the first band that legendary Union Carbide and Soundtrack of Our Lives guitarist Björn Olsson produced. From rehearsing songs in a hospital ward while singer David recovered from cancer they ended up being the first band to have their very own Space Rock album taken to Outer Space by Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang! He talks to Steve about his early days in Sta-Prest and resurrecting his band as Cryssis with Vom Ritchie (Dr & The Medics, Die Toten Hosen) after over 20 years. Paul has had two books published by Omnibus Press, "The Smiths: The Early Years" and "Oasis: A Year On The Road" and has had his Photos featured in over 100 other music books and countless record covers, magazines and newspapers. He has also photographed many bands in their early years such as U2, Manic Street Preachers, Stone Roses, Joy Division, The Clash, Ramones and Motorhead. In Part 1 we discuss Paul's early influences and first steps into the world of Rock Photography and he plays and discusses some pivotal songs from Dr. Feelgood, Link Wray, The Flamin' Groovies and The Pirates.
