Ricochet Records Podcast

The Ricochet Records show for September 2021 switches between uptempo electronica and gloopy syncopated tribal beats, challenging grooves to confuse the feet alongside oldskool breakbeat euphoria

Deep grooves and dancefloor tech influences in Ricochet Records’ August flow, tickling leftfield house and nightmare techno into the mix over Geoff Lifecycle’s psychedelic broken electro backbone

Shhhhh … an ultra deep selection this month from Geoff Lifecycle for the Ricochet Records show … minimal mellow moods delicately cut with the odd angular breakbeat … a hypnotic summer break from the usual nosebleed tech

Rave energy from Geoff Lifecycle on the decks for the June 2021 Ricochet show, with modern takes on crunchy lo-fi oldskool in the mix … featuring new music from Detroit Underground, Ilian Tape, Polymod, Kawatin, Octo Octa, Cosmo Lopez and Goddezz

A trance special from the Ricochet Records show. Inspired by efdemin’s album ‘New Atlantis’ (for Ostgut Ton), Ricochet label boss Lifecycle delves into the hypnotic side of his record bag, a progressive, deep selection of techy acid and pounding hardcore

Two hours of live mixed electronica from Ricochet Records’ label manager Geoff Lifecycle, delving into deeper tribal territory for this April session. Featuring new tunes from Derek Carr, Efdemin, Fourtet, Polymod, Ploy and select cuts from back of the record bag.

More high-energy flexing of the turntable muscles from Ricochet Records boss Lifecycle, two fast paced hours of electro with textures of oldskool rave.

Lifecycle returns to Threads to host the first Ricochet Records show for 2021, flexing his mixing muscles with a high-intensity 3-deck mix, bringing pure techno energy to the mix alongside Ricochet’s signature broken tech sound

BONUS 2021 NEW YEAR SHOW! Threads Radio is on brief hiatus whilst they take down their xmas decorations. Didn’t want to leave the Ricochet crew without their monthly dose of breakbeats. Can’t remember the labels for a bunch of tracks I played so the tracklist below is a bit patchy. I might stop doing them altogether, it was something of a hangover from when internet radio was trying to be all above board and pay royalties to the artists being spun. The music scene seems to have agreed that no artist will ever make any money ever again from streaming and so the few pence these podcasts generate are under less scrutiny. Not writing down the tracklist means I can up intensity of the mixes and be more fully absorbed into the wheels of steel. So, this may be the last tracklist. I can still be contacted for track IDs at lifecycle@hotmail.co.uk hope you enjoy the tunes - cheers, Geoff LC

Tribal breaks, rave and tech throughout Geoff Lifecycle’s December show for Threads, representing Ricochet Records with this high-energy two hour romp on the wheels of steel. Featuring new music from Coco Bryce, Forest Drive West and Luke Vibert alongside random classics from dusty end of the record bag.

Lower tempo but heavy as hell electronica kicks off the November Ricochet show, with Geoff Lifecycle mixing two hours of live tech, breaks and progressive electro, featuring new tracks from Datassette, Budakid, Radioactive Man and Minor Science.

Throwback to 2010 with two live recordings from 10 years ago, when Ricochet hosted a series of autumn label nights at Shoreditch electronica den The Gramaphone (RIP). Featuring two sets from Lifecycle (straight-up breakbeat from the inaugural October set, followed with a techno-inspired mix from the November 2010 show), bridged by November’s guest mix from ADJ (AI / Touchin’ Bass), dropping electronica sounds from his Pyramid Transmissions label through the Gramaphone’s impressive bassbins.

Geoff Lifecycle mixes electronica live across three decks, with an electro slant to September’s selection - featuring new tracks from Everson, Tripeo and Radioactive Man alongside Ricochet Records’ signature broken tech sound
