Restore Worship Conference

Our Electric Guitarist Austin Kim leads a workshop specifically about the use of the electric guitar in worship.

Our Senior Pastor Nate Holdridge speaks on Exodus 31:1-6, 35:34, 39:43 with a message entitled “The Right People For The Right Job”.

This year we kicked off our Restore Conference with a Night of Worship and a short message by Pastor Matt Kehler.

Finding the right parts to play, using dynamics, and having chemistry can be tough, especially with a volunteer team of musicians. Calvary Monterey’s Worship Team will be playing live and explaining how Drums, Bass, Acoustic, Electric, Keys, and Vocals can use dynamics and parts to color a song. They’ll also show how to take songs and apply them to a smaller band setting.

This workshop is taught by Calvary Monterey’s Tech Director Bernhard Klingenberg. In this workshop, you will learn about different worship lyric software solutions used for projecting lyrics during a worship service, utilizing video media in a service, as well as some design concepts to help ensure teaching and media slides are engaging and effective.

In this workshop, we’ll discuss how personal preparation coupled with the knowledge of using audio mixing tools can honor God in our Sunday services. Overviews of troubleshooting, EQ, soundcheck, and rehearsals will be provided in addition to Q&A.

With so much to do, it can be overwhelming to plan ahead and stay organized. In this workshop Brenton Collyer, Calvary Monterey’s Worship Pastor and Creative Director, will share some tools to help you host auditions, care for volunteer teams, plan services, and choose set lists.

In this acoustic guitar workshop, Tim Brown will offer up ideas regarding dynamics, technique, and chord voicing that he hopes will challenge you to continue to grow and improve as a musician and as a worship leader. Originally from a small town 30 minutes north of Los Angeles, Tim has been involved in leading worship for several churches over the past 15 years, including 6 years here at Calvary Monterey. His experience will add value to both the beginner and intermediate level musician.

Whether you’re a man or a woman, young or in a more mature season of life, on the front lines or serving behind the scenes, undereducated or inexperienced – your church needs confident, Spirit-filled leaders. If God’s called you to it, you can do it! We’ll look at finding confidence in and embracing what God’s called you to through Scripture, by learning to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and by investing in and honing your craft.

Evan is a very talented and creative songwriter who has released multiple studio albums and written many worship songs being sung in the global church. In this workshop, he’ll share about his songwriting process and how you can grow as a songwriter.

To start off our 2015 Restore Worship Conference, Pastor Justin Richter from The Anchor in Gilroy spoke on Psalm 8 with a message perfectly titled “Why Me?”

The Calvary Worship Band will go through the role of each instrument, using dynamics and parts to color a song, how to have an effective sound check and rehearsal as well how to get the most out of a smaller band.

In this workshop, we will be discussing ways to expand your options of how to create a more intricate soundscape without having to buy massive amounts of equipment. By looking at the two T’s of keys, Technique and Tone, we want to equip you with the skills to lead and play worship with a fuller depth of sound.

Jadon is a talented lyricist, vocalist and musician.  With seven album releases to date he has a wealth of songwriting experience.  In this workshop he'll share about his songwriting process and how you can grow as a songwriter.

Everywhere we look we find enormous, talented worship bands with top notch musicians, live albums and concert tours.  God is using these bands in wonderful ways but we can be left feeling daunted, under qualified and discouraged with our weekly Sunday morning worship.  This is why it’s important to not just follow the trends but find how God desires to use you locally.  We will discuss how Song Selection, Song Style and Songwriting can help shape your church’s musical identity.

Acoustic guitar can be a powerful instrument to facilitate a worship set. At the same time, if used incorrectly it can also make for a distraction! This workshop will focus on using the acoustic guitar to connect songs through use of dynamics, strumming patterns, chord variations and chord inversions. We will also discuss the dynamics of playing acoustic in a band setting verses a solo setting. Bring your guitar!

Using Technology in a worship service is a great tool to aid in the preaching of the Gospel. In this workshop we will go over some of the systems and methods that we use at Calvary to create an engaging worship service. This includes topics such as Media, Intro Videos, Graphics, Teaching Slides, Lighting, and Sound.

Your voice is an instrument! Let’s learn how to take care of it. Worship Leader and Ocean’s Edge School of Worship graduate, Danya Collyer, will be covering basic vocal training such as proper breathing techniques, microphone placement and how to prepare and care for your voice. She will also give tips on how to lead your congregation into a true spirit of worship.
