  • Interview with Marshall Dane

    11/02/2014 Duración: 58min

Ontario Country artist MARSHALL DANE has a new single at Country radio called Alcohol Abuse. With it's catchy sing-along chorus, Country fans will be joining in as they hear it played on the radio and at his concerts. At last year's CMAO awards, Marshall was nominated in several categories including Male Artist and Album Of The Year for Running Stop Signs. In 2013, this popular entertainer - who blends his country roots with a rock 'n roll attitude - released a new album called One Of These Days. The title track received plenty of airplay and brought more attention to his music career. Born in Southern Ontario, Marshall grazed on a rich fix of music, from the country sounds of his preacher dad - to his mom who is, in his own words, the strongest, toughest, hardest working woman he’s ever met – who played piano in the evenings to his four sisters and two brothers. Some his own musical discoveries at a young age ranged from John Denver to Michael Jackson. Marshall has opened shows for Alan Jackson and Emerson D

    07/02/2014 Duración: 45min

THE LOVELOCKS are a female alt-country duo from Toronto comprised of Ali Raney and Zoe Neuman. With combined talents on fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar and vocals, The Lovelocks are woven together with soaring harmonies and a desire to create music that gives voice to both the bitter and sweet in life. Ali and Zoe raised $30,000 through RocketHub crowdfunding to record their debut EP with award-winning producers Ben Glover and Mitch Merrett. Canadian Country singer, entertainer and legend CARROLL BAKER was born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. In 1965, Carroll, her mother and father moved to Oakville, Ontario. A couple of years later, she married John Beaulieu. The newlyweds were invited to go to a bar in Oakville called The Halton Hotel where one of her friends told the band that Carroll sang and they should get her up to do a song. KELLY PETTIT's newest release entitled Every Sunrise was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and produced by Australian music icon Greg Arnold (from the bands 13 at Midnight and Things of Stone and Wood.). After recording his previous album These Days in Australia, Kelly decided to explore the Nashville scene. The outcome is a jackpot of catchy tunes that tell stories of real life. Influenced largely by Australian bands like Crowded House, Things of Stone and Wood, and Paul Kelly, along with North American counterparts The Jayhawks, Barenaked Ladies, and the Counting Crows, Kelly works to define a sound all his own with musicianship and a dedication to each detail of the songwriting process. “My influences are quite diverse and you can really hear that in this CD. What’s constant is my attempt to keep the CD my own and upbeat,” explains Kelly. He was born and raised in Nanaimo, British Columbia but th

  • Interview with Robby Johnson

    10/12/2013 Duración: 40min

When ROBBY JOHNSON went to Nashville to cut a couple of songs, he never imagined that he’d end up in the recording studio as a full-fledged artist with six of his own tunes on the project and then shooting a music video for the song South Of Me with director Ryan Smith. The Canadian-born singer grew up with French as his main language, but from early childhood, he found himself inexplicably drawn to everything American. When his parents went through a painful divorce and his mother moved Robby and his brothers to a small town in Quebec, the boy turned to television as a way to handle his loneliness. He soaked up American programs, songs and movies, perfecting his accent-free English through exposure to a variety of videos, shows and networks. Fast forward to present: In Nashville, renowned studio musician/producer Jimmy Nichols was brought in to oversee arrangements, but when he recognized the potential of Robby’s talent, Nichols turned to Grammy and multi-award winning songwriter/guitarist Frank Myers (“I Sw

Don co-wrote the song with Brian Dolph. "People are wanting to take our traditions away," Don explains. "We (Murdock and Dolph) both 100% agreed with the principles behind the song -- why does everything have to be, like we say in the song, politically correct? I've got no problem respecting everyone else's opinion. Why can't everyone respect mine?" Tune in to hear the song and why Don felt it was one he had to share with the world.

Whitney began attracting attention from the moment she started appearing on Toronto club stages, gaining support from Blue Rodeo's Bazil Donovan and Bob Egan. Donovan and David Baxter co-produced her debut album, striking the perfect balance between her reverence for classic vocalists such as Patsy Cline and the emotional content of her songwriting, often drawn from personal experiences. Along with Egan on pedal steel, the album also features Devin Cuddy on piano, guitar virtuoso Nichol Robertson, and Justin Rutledge and Cuff The Duke's Wayne Petti on backing vocals. Bazil Donovan explains: “The reason I was drawn to Whitney was because she was playing real legitimate 1960′s era country music, because there is none of that around on the radio anymore – there’s nobody that I know of that is making
